Évaluation de Kendal
If you love sci fi with wild advanced tech rooted in our modern world, this is the show for you. I had no preconceived notion, I've briefly read some Gibson and I know it can be challenging but ultimately unique and thought provoking. This adaptation does a great job unwinding the story line, with some great vfx to boot, but what I really enjoy about the show is the cast. Everyone is incredibly well suited to their part with perfect performances. This first season also has some world building to do, so a lot of the various historical points, technology, societal structure, and other aspects have to be developed, but I think the pacing of it is done well and I can see this become an amazing series for years to come.
This is not your typical scifi movie. Don't watch it for a realistic depiction of future colonization or some potential technology in our future society, no this is a poetic representation of space travel gone wrong. What happens when a catastrophic event occurs in the vastness of space? Again, it's not a methodical analysis of how humans would respond or the procedures that would need to be in place to safeguard life, it's a visual representation of the emotional response, and one done extremely well. It is has a slow pace, I think necessary to represent the experience of the characters themselves, where they have nothing but the emptiness of space and time.
Excellent acting, and while the core story of a dystopian future of the have and have nots has been done many times, this approach was new and visually interesting. Minimal hi tech hardware, this vision of the future is consumed by biotech run rampant, and the characters are compelling. I don't see for a second why anyone would rate this poorly; it has its flaws but the experience and story is worth every minute. I would love to see this turned into a series or a follow up bigger budget version with more exploration of this world, and I hope to see more ideas from this writer/director team in the near future.
