A month ahead of its Season 2 release date, Kaiju No. 8 is introducing a brand-new character to its monster-crawling universe. This new recruit is not only connected to Kikoru Shinomiya, but she's also played by the leading heroine of Demon Slayer.

Kaiju No. 8 the Game revealed an original new character for the upcoming turn-based role-playing action game. Sagan Shinomiya, the leader of the newly-launched special unit, Clozer (Closing Order with Zero Restrictions), is joining the video game adaptation of the Shonen Jump series. She's the older sister of Kikoru Shinomiya, but they aren't related by blood. Akari Kitō, the Japanese voice actor of Nezuko Kamado in Demon Slayer, plays Sagan in the game.

Fans of Kaiju No. 8 already knew that their favorite anime series was going to return this summer. They were still missing a specific release date, though, and that finally changed this weekend. The official Kaiju No.8 website and Crunchyroll confirmed that the show locked in a release date for the next month: Season 2 is debuting on July 19. The announcement comes on the heels of the worldwide release of the compilation movie Kaiju No.8: Mission Recon.

This is the release date for the series in Japan, but the Crunchyroll announcement suggests that the anime streaming platform will follow the same release pattern from Season 1, with episodes released simultaneously with the Japanese exhibition. However, the streamer is yet to officially confirm that this will be the case with the new episodes. Additionally, the Kaiju No. 8 website announced that Season 2 will also stream on X/Twitter at the same time that the episodes air in Japan.

If you are hyped up for the Jujutsu Kaisen movie, there is some great news for you. This week, the official website of the anime series announced that the upcoming compilation film will feature additional, never-before-seen content. More specifically, the movie will feature a short film titled "Jojo Stroll." Details of the story are yet to be announced, and Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death is slated to hit theaters on July 16.

So far, all we know is that the short film will center around Satoru Gojō (voiced by Yūichi Nakamura in the original Japanese and by Kaiji Tang in the English dub), Suguru Getō (Takahiro Sakurai/Lex Lang), and Shoko Ieiri (Aya Endo/Ryan Bartley). The official website unveiled two first-look images that suggest that the short film will be a calm change of pace for the story. In one of them, the trio seems to be inside a movie theater.

The Korean box office continued its steady spring performance over the weekend of May 9–11, 2025, with South Korean crime hit “Yadang: The Snitch” maintaining its hold at No. 1 for the fourth consecutive weekend.
