This movie is quite a bit better than the 1 star reviews here indicate. That said, I get it. It's billed as a horror movie, and traditional horror movie fans aren't looking for a clever take on existentialist Jean Paul Sartre's 1944 play "No Exit" (famous for the line "hell is other people"). So be warned, the movie is philosophical, maybe a bit pretentious.
But it is, in fact, a good and clever modern take on the classic play. I'm not a big fan of Sartre, or existentialism, but I enjoyed this modern update. It's feels like a micro-budget effort, but I found the actors convincing and effective. There are a couple of jump scares in the beginning, but that's really all there is, in terms of horror. It keeps you guessing for a while, but after the midway point, it's really just some contemporary riffing on existentialist themes.

It's a shame that this film is a disaster from every point of view, even from the cover it looks like a trip to the countryside with friends, there's nothing horror about it, can we talk about psychological horror? No because apart from 3/4 interesting dialogues which in a certain way manage to immerse you in the drama that these guys are experiencing for the rest of the film i.e. For 125 minutes there are only useless and repetitive dialogues which serve no purpose they are completely empty dialogues, a fundamental thing in a film like this is the atmosphere which together with the dialogues should have immersed us in the climate of this film but here everything so superficial and devoid of depth is totally missing, the photography is totally absent!

I just came out of 'It Ends' and honestly, I'm still chewing on it. I'd give it a 7/10 - really solid, thought-provoking, but not quite a knockout for me.
The setup is so simple: four friends drive out late at night, only to find themselves stuck on a highway that never ends. That's it. And yet, it spirals into this mix of existential horror and comedy that feels both absurd and oddly relatable. You keep waiting for an answer, a way out, some big revelation... but of course, the title is the joke. Life doesn't really offer neat resolutions, and neither does this film.
What I liked most was how it captured that creeping Gen Z dread - the fear of being stuck, of going nowhere, of searching for meaning and never quite finding it. The characters feel real, their banter keeps it human, and beneath the laughs there's this undercurrent of melancholy that sneaks up on you.
The ending will definitely divide people. For me, it worked - not in a satisfying way, but in a hauntingly honest way. It's frustrating, but maybe that's the point: life rarely ties things up with a bow.
Overall, I admire what Alexander Ullom did here. It Ends won't be everyone's cup of tea, but if you like surreal, slow-burn horror that doubles as an existential thought experiment, it's well worth the ride.

On the one hand, it's open to interpretation, on the other, it's quite clear. DABDA is laid out like a charm. Although critics suggest it's about Generation Z, it's actually about all generations. I was worried towards the end that the director had run out of ideas for the ending, but he pulled it off. The only thing I missed was more development/dialogue (which the film handled perfectly at the beginning) when our four protagonists were already in a bind.
This script could easily be performed in a theater as an hour-long performance, so that's a plus.
Congratulations on such a debut.

Can see why people might rate this down and in honesty it's probably a 5/10 for entertainment value. But, I've given it an extra 2 for the art of writing it; the acting and the fact it's presumably really low budget. Well made and does what it says on the tin - ends. Congrats to the people who made it, regardless of the hate it may bring.

To begin this review completely honestly, I have no idea what I just watched. This movie looked promising and I liked the premise since it sounded similar to films like Dead End from 2003, which is a great movie, and another one I recently watched called Drive Back from 2024, which was fine. A group of characters drive down a highway, talking to each other, until at some point they realize that the road they are on seems to be infinite, just like their supply of gas.
Movies like this require the audience to fully focus on the narrative and the dialogue between the characters. They need likable characters and strong performances to maintain interest and prevent the viewer from losing engagement. The movie was made on a low budget but is competently put together, and the acting is generally solid. However, the characters themselves are not particularly likable, especially the character of James. That said, credit should still be given to the actors, who all do a good job with the material they are given.
The movie is long winded and not much happens throughout, aside from a few scenes that attempt to introduce action. These moments are not particularly well executed and ultimately feel pointless. Aside from those scenes and a lot of dialogue, there is very little progression, which makes it even more important for a movie like this to deliver a strong ending. Usually, this comes in the form of an effective twist or a thought provoking metaphor that stays with you long after the credits roll.
In this case, the movie does not stick the landing at all. Without spoiling anything, there is no clear reveal or resolution that explains what is happening or what the film is trying to communicate. While exposition dumps are often a lazy storytelling device and some ambiguity can be effective, here the ending feels unsatisfying and hollow. It left me with no lingering thoughts, making the entire journey feel unnecessary and ultimately forgettable.
There are clearly viewers who will find something to enjoy here, and if you appreciate existential horror with no concrete answers, this movie might work for you. For me, however, it felt like a very pointless watch in the end despite it's metaphor. [3,8/10]

Heard about this film through an influencer I follow and saw pretty much universal praise so I was cautious going in...
YALL. Clearly just by the TITLE the payoff is not the point, which is literally what the asian guy learns at the end. To enjoy the time spent hanging out and the moments inbetween a meaningless movement to the ... end. It was a clearly slightly optimistic ending.
I think it's hilarious that the people bitching about "the payoff" are LITERALLY in the same emotional headspace as the main character, hoping for some cringe pointless realization that they're in a simulation or they're on the road because they did something to deserve it (which the characters literally address). Who cares about that? Every other film does that already. To me it's kind of beautiful that you all are clearly just like the main character, that is true empathy.
If you want a basic plot contrived answer then just watch an AI breakdown of the film on youtube, like what do you people even watch stuff for? To learn about the ending? Or to empathize with the human condition?
There is intention everywhere. If you're missing a 'point' I think that's a bigger reflection of the way you engage with things. I know that experience won't be everyone's cup of tea (hence the 7/10) but there are so so many horror movies nowadays its nice to see one be different. To Anyone Who "Didn't Get It":

Every time I think I've seen the worst movie ever, then along comes something like this, and it takes over that title. Anyone giving this travesty over a 3 is lying through their teeth. This was the most boring, vapid, lackluster, plotless, stupid movie I have ever had the displeasure of watching. It made absolutely no sense whatsoever. It dragged out forever, just to come to a meaningless, bland ending without any explanations at all. There really was zero points to this movie. I would love to know what they were thinking, or should I say "NOT" thinking when they decided to make this. Do yourselves a favor, and skip this complete waste of time.

Full transparency: I've been tracking the analytics for this film because I'm an indie filmmaker too and wanted to see the release scale of Letterboxd to see if I should pursue it for our project.
In the course of a couple hours (and one day) almost 300+ 1 star reviews hit which didn't line up with the view count on the app and also is just fishy regardless.
Just wanted to flag that for anyone, only trust where the standard deviation is on the graph or the written reviews. Looks around 6-8.
Anyways, solid film. I think with more resources it could've been better but still a fan.

A tried and true story we've all read in a creepy pasta before or what have you, though that doesn't detract from what it is.
The first hour has some fun cinematography but overall can't seem to decide what type of movie it wants to be.
The fun part comes around the 50 minute mark where exploration of theory and character interaction shines and feel most natural - we also finally get some breathing room with the camera and without spoiling anything the camera itself has more room which was nice.
Anywho, fun watch. Chuckled at the end. Very glad I stuck with it.

Boring
and clichéd,this took far too long of my time that I'm never getting back.
We only watched it all in the hope that somehow it would redeem itself but it didn't. It went nowhere, said nothing and is a waste of everyone's time. It's not a horror film, nor is it a thriller; it's not dramatic enough for a drama...honestly, it's like a film student's debut offering when they're trying to be "deep" but unfortunately it has all the depth of a puddle...avoid like the plague!

More than a horror film, it's an existentialist film about the lightness of being, the fear of the future, and the time we tend to undervalue, especially young people. Viewers can interpret the film in different ways. Personally, it reminded me a lot of Groundhog Day mixed with It Follows. To give up or to keep going? What makes human beings persevere despite adversity? Love? The instinct for survival? Resilience? The fear of the unknown?

This is a lazy waste of time. I am so tired of the state of hollywood lately. There are some alright jokes, the setup is not so bad, but then it becomes as unintelligible, derivative, and meaningless as you might expect from a movie that consists of one straight stretch of road and a car filled with teenagers arguing. There are no "unspeakable horrors" as the synopsis claims, it's just a bunch of extras running towards the vehicle in a chaotic and unchoreographed manner or sitting around in the woods. They don't have any interesting features, no special costumes or makeup, they are probably wearing the same thing they showed up to the shift in. This is not a spoiler, because there apparently are plot elements somewhere in here, but ive basically described the entire movie.

Shallow and pedantic... Funny but using this reference is accurate here. The movie goes nowhere. Immediately you're asking yourself what the premise is. You're kind of on the journey for a couple minutes. Then you're hoping the premise isn't going to be shallow. Then it is...
Anyone can come up with a premise. It's not hard to come up with a scary scenario. It takes skill to stick the landing. It's like a good joke. It needs a set up, and it needs a punchline. This is the set up. For the first 10 minutes. And then after that you're just watching repetition and hoping for some kind of meaning which never arises. No punchline.

This movie is a waste of time. It is unintelligent, boring, pointless, and useless. Nothing happens. The synopsis is falsified. The most annoying foul play is reviews that give this movie anything more than a 3. They are all fake, and lying. This is nothing good about this movie. Go for a walk (or drive for that matter) for an hour and a half, and I promise it'll be more entertaining. The best thing about this movie is that It Ends.

Anyone who says they didn't like this lacks deep, introspective, intellectual, and interpretive thinking skills. Not a bad thing, just something not everyone has. This movie was one of the best I've ever watched. Its simplicity is the whole point. I'm writing an essay about my interpretation of it because it provokes so much thought. I think Alex Ullom created a movie he's probably not even sure is as amazing as it really is. I think it's deeper than what he even intended. It's life encapsulated, purpose, and blind faith. Life is purposeless, unexplained; the beginning is the end. Life is fleeting; we go on and on, some lasting longer than others. Life repeats itself over and over; we make new versions of it because our only purpose as humans is to be with other humans, hence his picking up of the stranger at the end. I can't even explain how deep this movie is, but I beg those of you who wrote negative reviews to step outside yourselves for a moment and consider: what does the end look like to you?

Meaningless and boring. The plot is about some young people who suddenly find themselves in a place where others are chasing them like zombies, only without being zombies? Otherwise, the whole film is nothing more than watching the young people drive around in a car and talk about all sorts of irrelevant things. There are no thrills or action, just boring and irrelevant chatter in a car. And it's in a car that never runs out of fuel, even though they drive for days without refuelling. It's one of the most boring, meaningless and strange films I've ever seen. Watch it and waste your time, or avoid it and spend your time on something more entertaining and exciting, such as watching paint dry on a wall.

I watched this because it had amazing reviews...which i do not understand having just wasted almost 2 hours of my l8fe 9n this awful movie. The acting was mediocre, but the storyline was atrocious. It had so much promise at the beginning, and very quickly devolved into a boring, repetitive, pointless movie. I do not get any of the hype surrounding it. It had SO MUCH potential, but the actual storyline was awful. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. (Also, the sound quality is horrible. It was like watching a movie fr9m the 70s or 80s where you can barely hear the talking, but the music and loud parts will blow out your eardrums).

This psychological horror/thriller is very interesting at first. For the first few 30 minutes you kept wondering what the ending will be and what will happen to these characters? But then it gets boring and more boring and more boring until you finally reach to the end of the movie and you can only ask, "That was it? What the eff?" The initial idea was intriguing, bet the ending was seriously a HUGE dud! Give me back 90 minutes of my life!

Honestly? Why did they even bother filming this?
This was easily one of the worst movies I have ever watched.
What was the point? No plot. No real storyline to speak of. No climax. No outcome. No reason. No explanation. Nothing.
This was 90 mins of my life I will never get back.
The movie just ends with no conclusion.
It was so dumb. It could have been a great movie if they would have cut the boring dialog and useless banter. Do more with the people rushing the Jeep. Make a story out of a haunted forest or something. Tell us what happens to the characters.
If you like a solid conclusion to wrap up a story then don't bother with this film.
BTW any reviews saying this is a 10? They gotta be fake.
On the up side: Akira Jackson had some great acting moments. I can see her moving on to better projects. She was the best of the line up.
Mitchell Cole did a great job and I hope to see him on the screen again. I can see him moving on to bigger films as long as this one doesn't keep him back.
Phinehas Yoon and Noah Toth were also decent actors.
And please do not watch this thinking it is a horror. I have no idea why they called it that. It is barely a thriller.
In fact I think the correct category for this film is to call it a
BORE-ER.

Annoying from the start, super low-budget so lack of budget translates into dark scenes where you can't see what's going on.
Almost nothing actually happens, and what does "happen" is meaningless.
Script seems to be written by 18 year old film students (and that's an insult to 18 year old film students).
Acting is one-note, screaming instead of acting, montone delivery of lines which need emotion. All of the characters seem like the same character basically, except the one who leaves (I'm with him).
The score is super loud, and the dialogue mumbly, which seems to be a rising trend. Like blast your audience's eardrums with THE SCORE instead of having any actual drama or suspense.
I'd love to see this concept made by someone with talent, like the Black Mirror team.
This film is all over place, and the title tells you everything you need to know about the film. You don't need to watch it.
I'm all for cheap indie projects but this is a very wide miss.
