Ku'damm 77

The story of the Schöllack family continues: having started in 1956, the family drama now finds itself in the hippie year of 1977 in Berlin, where the next generation of Schöllack women are now getting properly involved ... Familiar faces appear in new roles in a way you wouldn't have expected... But why they made the big leap in time from the last season (1963) to 1977 remains a mystery to me. Personally, I would have found "Ku'damm 68" more exciting, but oh well... Overall, this season doesn't match the charm of the first - especially the first two, Ku'damm 56 and 59 - but all in all, it's still very decent television. I felt well entertained!

Ku'damm 77 is a series worth watching, as it excellently captures the flair of 1970s Berlin within a very short time and illustrates the social issues of the era. The new characters and storylines that are introduced are interesting and refreshing. The character development of the well-known figures was also exciting to observe, and the humor of the series is more convincing here than in the previous seasons.

Unfortunately, not all of the newly introduced characters are developed in a satisfying way and remain characterized superficially. Whether Robert Beck, Sharif Feen, or Linda Müller, one gets the impression that the series wants to introduce many new characters without giving them sufficient space to fully unfold. Linda's constant journalistic work with the family, in particular, feels rather out of place and did not convince me as a framing storyline.

Overall, it was enjoyable to dive into the new decade with the series and the well-known characters. However, some potential was unfortunately left untapped. The earlier seasons were better at truly gripping the viewer and telling a more cohesive story. Sometimes, less is more.
