Intriguing and unsettling horror thriller and based on the British novel "The Nameless" by Ramsey Campbell. A spine-tingling series containing a convincing sense of impeding dread and being an essentially effective terror thriller. Starring a doctor , Miren Ibarguren, whose daugher is missing. Seven years later, she receives a phone call from someone claiming to be her daughter , asking for her mother to come find her before they kill her . Other mysterious clues show up, further indicating Claudia's daughter is indeed still alive , and very much in danger. She is helped by a run-down, ex-cop : Rodrigo de la Serna and by the mysterious Milena Smit, they put together the traces to discover Angela's whereabouts. Along the way, they discover a sect of the occult with conceal things and dark secrets.
A suspenseful and frightening series displays relentless horror, thrills, intrigue, shocks, hard-edge drama , twists and turns. Writers use that uneasy non-knowledge for both horror and occultism, introducing brief psychological remarks. The series develops itself from a mysterious phone call in which the disappeared daughter tells her: 'Mummy, it's me, come and get me'. This is an inferior TV remake in 6 episodes from the successful film " Los sin nombre" (1999) directed by Jaume Balaguero starring Emma Vilarasau, Tristan Ulloa, Karra Elejalde. This new rendition was also written by Jaume Balaguero, along with showrunners Manuel Gancedo and director Pau Freixas himself. There are decent performances from a large cast of prestigious actors, such as Miren Ibarguren who overacting at times, Rodrigo de la Serna, Milena Smit , veteran Susi Sánchez, Pablo Derqui, Francesc Garrido, Daniel Pérez Prada, Elvira Minguez, among others.
There's also a tense and strange musical score by Arnau Bataller, a prestigious composer expert on dark atmosphere. The series was professionally directed by Pau Freixas, though it has some flaws and failures. Freixas is a nice craftsman , working both television and Cinema, such as : Todos mienten, Se quien eres, Dias de Navidad, The Red Band Society, Benvinguts a la familia, Heroes , Cámara Oscura, among others. Rating: 6/10. Acceptable and passable, but frankly inferior to the original.
