What was this...?

Needless to say that I had never even heard about this 2024 German movie titled "Asche", from writer and director Elena Wolff, prior to stumbling upon it by random chance here in 2025.

The storyline in "Asche", from writer and director Elena Wolff, was a rather strange one. I have to admit that I found very little entertainment in the movie, and thus "Asche" was a swing and a miss in terms of providing me with proper entertainment.

Given my very limited exposure to the German cinema, then of course I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. And not being familiar with the performers is actually something that spoke in favor of the movie, as I enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents. Despite the fact that the script failed to capture my interest, I will say that the acting performances in the movie were.

This is not a movie that I would recommend you to waste 87 minutes on.

I am sure that there is an audience out there for a movie such as "Asche", from writer and director Elena Wolff, but the movie proved too artsy and avantgarde for my liking.

My rating of writer and director Elena Wolff's 2024 movie "ASCHE" lands on a two out of ten stars.
