So I watched the first 2 episodes and here's what I have to say...
Justin is still funny, Alex is still Alex, Billie is adorable, The plot is okay, the theme is okay, I'm glad that Max is a billionaire, everything is okay. However there are things that are very confusing like how did Justin get fired from a "unicorn incident" and how does he have the powers? If he has two kids, would they have powers too? Also why didn't he just tell his wife that he was a wizard after he was fired? And what why did Justin and Juliet break up? There are so many questions that needs to be answered. But overall it's fun, it's enjoyable.

I understand the critiques, but people need to keep in mind that this is a Disney Channel show-so naturally, there's going to be some corny jokes and family-friendly humor. That said, Selena Gomez and David Henrie really delivered, bringing back the charm and familiar elements fans loved from the original series. While it doesn't quite reach the magic of the original, it's still an enjoyable and nostalgic experience. I can easily see it running for at least three seasons, like many other Disney Channel hits. Also, Selena's performance here was much stronger than in Emilia Perez.
Janice LeAnn Brown is definitely on track to become the next big Disney star, following in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Olivia Rodrigo, Jenna Ortega, and Sabrina Carpenter. David Henrie did a great job bringing back the essence of his character, Justin, while adding a more mature touch. While the show had a few moments that felt a bit too similar to the original, it still managed to be a fun and enjoyable experience overall.

It's like the creators wanted to tell a new story about Justin, Alex, and Max as if when they were kids. I mean just think about it. Alex was the reckless and charismatic one(So is Billy) , Justin was the brainy goody two shoes (So is Roman) , and Max was the dumb funny one (So is Milo). It's crazy because Billy, Roman, and Milo are like spitting imagaes of a younger version Alex, Justin, and Max(Character Wise). Even Winter behaves just like Harper did. So it was kind of disappointing that they didn't give the new characters their own unique personalities.
Plus the original show revolved around teenagers. The spinoff revolves around children. So the producers actually limited themselves & the audience by doing that. Since the original series was about teenagers we were able to connect & grow with the characters more. But the spinoff is about kids, so it can make you look at the screen sideways sometimes because it's harder to connect to a kid's storyline when you're a teenager or an adult.
It's not that bad of a show it's just not better than the original version. It's just a step-down that's all. And it can kind of leave you disappointed, especially if you were a true fan of the original series.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place - A Nostalgic Treat!
If you're a fan of old Disney shows, then don't miss this. So many nostalgic scenes. Amazing actors. Great dialogues. It brings back the golden memories.
The chemistry between the characters feels just like it used to - fun, magical, and heartwarming. Selena Gomez shines once again as Alex Russo, effortlessly slipping back into her iconic role. The storyline does a great job of connecting the past with the present, and there are plenty of surprises for longtime fans.
It's more than just a revival - it's a heartfelt reunion that reminds us why we fell in love with the show in the first place. Whether you're watching for the nostalgia or discovering it for the first time, this special is a must-watch.

I love that it's a reboot of a show we all loved, and although it's for kid's, many people watching are adults that are lovers of the original. That being said, besides Justin and Alex, the characters & script are badly written. The entire premise feels lazy. There is no natural progression of the story and it all feels forced. Everyone knows wizards exist and the magic doesn't feel special anymore. The children are written without their own specific personalities and are just far too precocious. None of the lines are funny and the audience struggles to connect with any of the new characters. The original was more mature and well written. Overall just disappointed.

I cried at the end of the first episode...this show is so special to me and for so many people who grew up watching this, and I rewatched it 2x and it is still funny and has a place in my heart like no other show from that era. They did it great back then and I believe it still going to be amazing now. I was so worried that it would be like Raven's Home (that sadly was kinda of boring just focusing on kids and barely Raven's problems) but here the magic and wizard world is still the main focus and that is amazing! No other show by Disney channel had so much importance than Wizards Of Waverly Place, 4 seasons, 1 movie, 1 special after the show ended and now a reboot!
Give it a try you won't regret, your inner child will be proud of you.

I mean I understand that this is a Disney+ show and it's targeted towards kids I think that majority of the people who will watch it are actually adults who grew up on the original show... this just feels so childish... and like I said I get it's it's for "kids" I didn't expect anything more mature or adulty than the original one but something on a similar level...? Billie is great very Alex-core and I love that for her. Justin is such a Justin which is also great but the rest of the characters just feel like they are straight out of a kids show like lazy town or something 😂 the vibe just isn't vibing maybe it'll get better in few years when the characters get a little older but tbh I doubt the show will survive few years it'll probably be cancelled after 2 seasons or so... anyway if you are looking for something similar to the original wizards of WP this might be it but don't get your hopes up cause it's nowhere near to be even half as good...

Its a great blend of the original format of the show whilst keeping it relevant to current times with enough change to jeep it fresh and interesring.
I had reservations about it before it was released but im pleased to say that its just as fun as the original series with Billie being amazingly similar to alex with the boys being perfectly written as Justin's and Max's characters.
Absolutely love the twists with Billie learning to control her magic as well as the brilliant stories and funny moments.
The familiarity and use of original sets and subtle character mentions make this a must watch for anyone who was a fan of the original series.

The one thing I really don't understand is why they keep doing reboots without the original cast. Yay wow Selena was in on episode. Where's Max? Where's Harper? Where's Mr & Mrs Russo? They literally were the heart and soul that made the original so good. It's really lacking the "magic" that it made is so loved by children and their parents! It was hard as an adult to watch this and see that they're still using the same weird Disney Channel humour.. They should have done a young sheldon approach. They took out the laugh track and filler humour and made a heart felt show that still had some comedy that seemed natural and was true to his parent show.
I'm not even sure if they should have a season 2. Maybe if they bring back the real superstars who made the show so good. Even Selena why are you doing a half job!? Do you know how long we've been waiting to see you play Alex Russo again? And that's what you give us? Go big or go home and i think you guys should all go home.

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would.
David Henrie is brilliant in this, I love his performance. The kids do a great job.
The show does have a few cheesy lines but looking back the original show did too.
I actually laughed out loud.
Only two episodes so far. I believe it was a good introduction to Billie, they were cast perfectly. I wish we'd have a more teenager cast like the old show. Why is it most Disney shows nowadays are very young kids? Did it use to be like this in the golden Disney days or I'm just getting old?
Anyway, I still think they did the right thing with the casting, the show is good so far and I hope they don't cancel this.
Can't wait to see what comes next.

Gave the first episode a watch, but it was pretty average. It is a fun kids show, but I'm not a kid any more I guess. I'm sure that for new watchers who never saw the original, they would probably enjoy this show.
The only reason I rate a 5 is because of nostalgia factor.
I can't stand the Billie character. I don't know why, but they just seem really annoying and unlikeable. The show gives no reason for us to want to like them or see them succeed.
Why would we want to watch more except for nostalgia reasons, but I don't think there will be much of that. So again, this show will be fine for new kids to get into, but for older viewers, probably not.

I am trying to comprehend why this horrendous show has been foisted upon an innocent and unsuspecting public. This new Wizards does not deserve to share the same name as the original, it has absolutely none of the original magic that made the first show great. The new cast is ridiculous and I can't understand why this new character, "Billie" is even on Wizards, why are we not seeing Justin's children work through the challenges of everyday life as young wizards?
Billie is an unappealing and over acting new character that is so unnecessary she makes almost the whole show unwatchable. Sadly though, the old characters make this train wreck impossible to sit through as well. It is like our old friends from the original series have forgotten who their characters were or Justin and Alex's bodies have been taken over by aliens and are pretending to be our favorite brother and sister duo, but they can't act to save their lives. What really irks me though is how unnecessary this show truly is. This just emphasizes the fact that we will never have great television shows like we did when we were growing up, and that these shows should be loved and appreciated for what they were. The past should be revered, it does not need to be remade as it will never be as beloved as the original.

It's so nostalgic to get to have Wizards back!! And now we get to watch it with our kids, who LOVE it. So glad this charismatic cast came together to bring us this special show! Giada is superb as the mom and all four of the kids really rock their characters, we can't get enough! Plus has anyone paid attention to the amazing fashion they have going on in this show. I want everything Billie has ever worn in my size!!
Our family is so excited to get together every Friday and watch the newly dropped episodes together. We hope there is an announcement soon for season 2! The show has captured a special spot for us!

Remember all the wonderful things you liked about the original series? You won't find it here.
The child actors on this series are reaply negative role models for young viewers. Alkaio Thiele who plays the older Russo child is just painful to watch. He screams his lines at full volume and acts like he has had a quad expresso before every take.
The writers simply do not know how to write dialogue for children. All of the child characters are far too adult and far too sassy to be believable. Normal childrenmdo NOT behave like this.
The entire pilot episode lacked the "sense of wonder" found in the original series. The reboot seems stale and jaded.

I LOVED IT !
I have been waiting all year for this to come out and I finished every episode in 1 day.
I already want more episodes I didn't want to stop watching.
I love the new characters, I would however like to see more of Alex as I'm a huge Selena Gomez fan and Alex was always my favourite Disney channel character as a kid. We also need good throwback with Alex and harper singing the hat song :D
I found her hilarious, Wizards of Waverly place was always my favourite show and I'm so happy that it's back with a twist.
Keep those episodes coming Wizards beyond Waverly place crew because I already can't get enough. <3.

This should be something the original viewers can watch with their kids or either generation can enjoy alone. If you're going to make so many changes that don't go along with the original, just create a new show! Why do this?
Horrible over-acting from some of the characters (looking at you "Giada") while others are fine. There are so many plot holes that don't match the original. This is clearly made for younger kids who won't question why so many things go directly against the plot points of whole episodes from the original. All in all a complete fail. If you want to do a reboot, fine. If you want to target the kids of the people who originally watched it, fine but don't change core concepts. It also leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Maybe they'll answer them in later seasons but as of yet it seems were just left pretending some things just never happened?

As an reviewer that grew up with the original show of Wizards of Waverly Place, I am glad that the reboot series has appeared for a new generation of kids to see the magic & humor that I experienced as a child. Now I've read the reviews on here comparing this series to the original series and I'm here to say that you should never compare anything to the original because you will just find yourself disappointed. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is its own magical art piece that continues the story of the beloved original series in its own way. I wholeheartedly respect the creative process and choices that went into the casting, the acting, dialogue and character development of new and old characters. I hope to see more great things from this series.

As a longtime fan of the original Wizards of Waverly Place, I was genuinely excited to see the new edition - but sadly, it was a major disappointment. The effects feel cheap and lack the magical charm that made the original so special. It doesn't capture the same energy, humor, or heart. The characters feel flat, and the visual quality just doesn't measure up. It honestly feels more like a knockoff than a revival. I really wish they had taken more care to honor what made the original series so beloved.

My kids watched this growing up and were obcessed and now my grandkids are loving it. My adult kids were always hoping that the show would come back and it did.
David and Selena still got it. The new cast fit right in and we love the transition to the story. And wait to see more of the series. We are looking forward to seeing more of the past characters blend in from time to time. David Henrie is hysterical And the kids that were chosen for him were cast perfectly. We don't want to compare it to the first show because it's not this is a continuation and people need to realize that. Just like in real life things change.

Enjoyed very much this series. After long time they came back with the Wizard World. Selena's cameo was awesome and Justin was a lit character with awesome comic timing and savage replies. His charm and Swag was different in this series. Center point of the Series was Billy who was also shining in her role. The perfect story in every episode with some Social messages. Roman and Milo done their work in their way perfeclty and humuorously. Fresh magics and episodes with new line. Funny and enjoyable series. Title song was also awesome. I think there was no Max in this series. Must watch for fun !
