The Fairly Oddparents: A New Wish is an animated series that is a sequel to the original The Fairly Oddparents (2001-2017). A New Wish has cute character designs, energetic animation, a coherent story, and characters that you can't help but root for.
The story is very simple and similar to the original. A little girl gets fairy godparents after she struggles to fit in into her new life. However, there is a sense of continuity in the story here compared to the original. While the original focuses more on slapstick gags and one liners rather than story progression, A New Wish does it in a way that is related to the story of the episode.
The animation is incredibly smooth and surprisingly translates well into this 2.5 D style. It is also very vibrant and engaging, making the backgrounds and character movements very appealing to look at. The animation is very similar to the 2015 film The Peanuts Movie, and despite A New Wish having a lower budget, the animation is very well done and respects the design of the original show.
The characters are very charming and likable. In fact, Cosmo and Wanda are no longer a miserable couple and are now shown to love each other again. They are very giggly, and when they do make fun of each other, they don't come off as mean spirited but rather silly. They are also seen to care for each other and both love their grown son, Peri, very much. The show also emphasizes on showing the actions of the characters rather than telling. For instance, Cosmo and Wanda are seen to be hugging a lot. The main character, Hazel, is very funny and smart, and has a good amount of character flaws that make the viewer empathize with her more. Hazel's parents are very supportive, albeit distant, to their daughter. They also have a great relationship with her, which wasn't shown in the original as Timmy's parents were negligent. It was nice to see loving parents (not fairies) in a Fairly Oddparents show. Finally, the main antagonist, Dev Dimmadome, is a very well flushed out character who you can't help but feel bad for. He also has a solid character arc and is not only defined as a rich spoiled kid.
Overall, the show is extremely enjoyable and entertaining, and can be watched by anyone. A New Wish is definitely the best show that Nickelodeon has produced in a decade and I highly recommend it not only to fans of the original, but to regular people as well. It's a cute, funny, and emotional show that you should definitely check out.

I've watched the original show back when I was a kid. So when I heard about this new sequel series, I had to see for myself. To not spoil anything, here's how I sum it up. Not only did the nostalgia hit hard for me with all the callbacks and cameos but every little story made me care about the new godkid's growth and you really get to see her learning life lessons through such entertaining and touching moments.
Admittedly, I stopped watching the original series sometime around season 7ish after high school, but seeing this show is now making me want to go back and binge the original from the beginning. I hope this new series get renewed for a second season.

This show has received a lot of hate, but it isn't as bad as many people say. The story is interesting and keeps you hooked with its twists and turns. The characters are not self inserts, each having unique traits and adds depth to the story. The acting, though not perfect, has some strong performances that make the characters feel real.
Despite its flaws, the show offers good entertainment value and is worth watching. Some critics focus too much on the animation, but there's a lot to appreciate if you give it a chance. The plot is engaging and keeps viewers interested throughout each episode. The characters' development helps you connect with them.
In the end, It's not perfect, but it has enough good points to make it worth watching. If you look past the criticisms, you might find a show that you can really enjoy.

Now, I know a lot of people had low expectations about this show seeing all the previous failures of FOP but this show is actually not that bad if you give it a chance!
First the animation/art style It's stylized to a degree but it can look a little bland in some scenes, but the animation is great overall with snappy movements.
As for the new character Hazel, shes a breath of fresh air for the FOP series, she's different from Timmy so its fun to see what she would do compared to Timmy. I see alot of people are upset that Timmy has been 'replaced' but it was about time we got a new MC who does things differently to Timmy.
As for Cosmo and Wanda they kinda revert to their season 1 personalities being 2 goofy idiots and I'm here for it!
Episodes wise I found myself laughing at some jokes here and there and some scenes captures the charm to the original show. Although because of modern writing there were some parts that were kinda cringe but its understandable seeing this is meant for a new gen.
Overall its a decent cute show that you should give a chance and I hope this gen can grow up with this FOP reboot.

I love the new art style it reminds me of the Peanuts Movie. The reboot did a pretty good job being true to the original while still doing its own thing. In this new version, Cosmo and Wanda have a new Godkid and it takes place in the future. I prefer the original but this is a worthy reboot. It's pretty funny so I would recommend checking it out. My man Poof had better appear he is one of my favorite characters. I also hope they show the whereabouts of what happened to other characters from the original. What happened to Chloe, What happened to Sparky, What happened to Chester, What happened to AJ, What happened to Vicky, What Happened to Tootie, What happened to Darth Lazer, etc.

- AnecdotesBecause "poof" (short for "poofter") is an epithet in almost all of the English-speaking world outside of the United States, Wanda and Cosmo's son's name was changed to Peri (short for Periwinkle).
