Ice Fall

It's a basic one time watch cheapo action film. Great for background noise while doing something else. Don't expect anything more.

Don't expect good acting, directing, or story. Or any sensible events.

Every few minutes I was shaking my head at how ridiculous something was. The Characters do the most stupid things. Some apparently managed to steal 20 million dollars, or run a gang of thieves, or survive in the alaskan wilderness, despite being so ridiculously dumb. It's completely unbelievable. And there is a lot of stuff just shoehorned into the movie to further the plot that otherwise doesn't make any sense.

But it has some bang bang, and some running, and some betrayal, and some fisticuffs. And you get to see some snow.

Icefall is compelling, tense, and smart enough to keep you invested. It's exactly the kind of film I'd recommend for a weekend evening when you want something exciting, outdoorsy and chilly (literally and figuratively).

If you're comfortable with a few compromises, you'll likely have fun. Because when the ice cracks, the chase begins and for at least an hour and a half, Icefall gives you that rush.

Sure, without ever having heard about the 2025 thriller "Ice Fall", as I stumbled upon it, I opted to watch it solely because it was a movie that I hadn't already seen. And I have to say that I found the movie's cover/poster interesting enough to make me stop and take notice.

The storyline in the movie was pretty straightforward, and writers Steve Isles and George Mahaffey actually put together a script and narrative that proved entertaining and enjoyable enough.

Of the entire cast ensemble in the movie, I was only familiar with Joel Kinnaman, Graham Greene and Danny Huston. The acting performances in the movie were good.

The movie proved to be entertaining and enjoyable, though it wasn't a thriller that revolutionized the thriller genre. And it is hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing.

My rating of director Stefan Ruzowitzky's 2025 movie "Ice Fall" lands on a five out of ten stars.

The movie is full of refferenes to nature and ice. All of them are laughable. At a point someone was telling they are losing a milimeter of ice every 30 seconds while outside there is a blizzard. Ice melts slowly.

At other point the nativ priest says they have 10 hours until the ice starts melting... also laughable.

The poacher sleeps basically outside. He gets woken up by water but the fire pit is already preapred with kindling ans stuff.

One time trucks drive over ice, next moment they fall through.

The references to ice and weather are relentless and higly innacurate.

The deputy woman wants to act tough while giving the impression of a barking little dog.

I could not finish the damn thing.
