The Best Multi-Season Running Gags on ‘Seinfeld’
Image
“It’s go time!”

When Mickey shouts that phrase before charging at Kramer in Season Eight of Seinfeld, fans were already familiar with these three little words. Two episodes earlier, geriatric personal trainer Izzy Mandelbaum originates the line to motivate Jerry. Then, Mandelbaum’s very old son repeats “It’s go time!” before attempting to pick up a heavy television at the end of the episode. And after Mickey yells the in-joke as he charges Kramer, the line reappears again in Season Nine when Izzy makes his second appearance.

“It’s go time!” is just one of the many running gags on Seinfeld that span more than one season. So, which were the best of the best? Eric Dobin and Adam Pacecca, co-hosts of The Place To Be: A Seinfeld Podcast, helped me compile this list of the show’s all-time multi-season gags — including the greatest one for each main character.

‘A Nice Indian Boy’ Hits Theaters as Levantine Films Backs Queer Romantic Comedy With Nationwide Release
Karan Soni
Levantine Films is giving A Nice Indian Boy a nationwide theatrical rollout, a decision that runs counter to current trends, where most romantic comedies premiere on streaming platforms.

The film follows Naveen (Karan Soni), a gay Indian-American doctor who introduces his boyfriend Jay (Jonathan Groff), a white artist raised by Indian adoptive parents, to his family. The story begins with a meeting at temple and develops into a wedding proposal that forces both men to address cultural expectations. It is adapted from a play by Madhuri Shekar and directed by Roshan Sethi.

Levantine CEO Benjamin Hung said the story stood out because it focused on family, tradition, and identity rather than a typical coming-out narrative. Soni’s character navigates pressure from both his upbringing and his own hesitation in embracing his heritage. Jay, meanwhile, acts as a cultural mirror—someone whose affection for Indian customs influences Naveen’s view of himself.

‘A Nice Indian Boy’: Why Levantine Films Believes the Queer Indie Rom-Com Has the Potential to Pop in Theaters
Image
Levantine Films is betting on the queer rom-com “A Nice Indian Boy” with a theatrical release — a show of confidence in an era where rom-coms are often relegated to streaming platforms.

The film stars “Deadpool” actor Karan Soni as an Indian man who brings his white-orphan-artist boyfriend (played by Tony and Grammy winner Jonathan Groff) home to his traditional family. When executives at Levantine Films read Madhuri Shekar’s play, they were moved to adapt the project for the big screen.

“Ideally, we’re looking for projects that are very uplifting and give people hope,” Levantine CEO Benjamin Hung tells Variety about how the movie fits into the company’s brand ethos.

Levantine, the indie production and financing company behind awards darlings like “Hidden Figures” and “Beasts of No Nation,” along with crowd-pleasers like “Blinded by the Light” and “Jerry and Marge Go Large,” enlisted Justin Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios to co-finance the film.

Tom Cruise is Responsible For Damon Wayans Losing an Oscar Winning Role in a 1996 Classic
Image
Damon Wayans started his career as a stand-up comedian before starring in several shows. In the 1990s, Wayans transitioned to films, establishing himself with hits such as Bulletproof, The Last Boy Scout, and Major Payne.

Despite his impressive resume, Wayans has never come close to winning an Academy Award. However, the actor-comedian might have had a shot at the prestigious award had he landed a part in a Tom Cruise movie of the 1990s.

During a recent podcast appearance, Wayans reflected on losing out on the supporting role in Cruise’s sports comedy-drama Jerry Maguire. The role eventually went to Cuba Gooding Jr., who won an Oscar for his performance. Here is what Wayans had to say about missing out on the Oscar-winning role.

General Hospital Spoilers: Jerry Jacks Behind Sonny’s Penthouse Bombing?
Image
General Hospital spoilers and updates tease Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roché) could very well be behind Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) penthouse bombing.

Now that Sebastian’s character Father Renaud has been killed off “1923”, he may have time to reprise his role on Gh.

There Are Several Reasons To Suspect Jerry Jacks

There are several reasons to suspect Jerry Jacks is the one behind the scenes who hired Soliski (Mike Wolfe) to plant the bomb in Sonny’s penthouse. For one thing, Jerry has always been a mercenary, and able to get his hands on weapons and even bioweapons.

Jerry was the one who tainted the Port Charles water with a deadly toxin in 2012, that Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner) referred to in March 31’s episode.

Plus, in 1998 he planted a bomb in a warehouse that caused a fire, nearly killing Sonny, his brother, Jax Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) and Lucas Jones (Van Hansis...

The Original Seinfeld Pitch Confirms It's Not A 'Show About Nothing'
Image
It's been widely disseminated that "Seinfeld" is "a show about nothing." Creators Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David famously demanded that the series serve as an anti-sitcom, undercutting the morals and treacly lessons that had come to dominate the genre. Instead, David and Seinfeld wanted the main characters of their show to be shallow, petty, and awful, more or less assuring that they would never learn anything by the end of an episode. One of the show's mandates was "no hugging, no learning." There would be no teary reconciliation, no warmth, and no growth from past mistakes. By the end of "Seinfeld," the main characters would be just as petty and shallow as they were in the first episode.

The "'Seinfeld' is a show about nothing" descriptor has become so well known that the special features on the "Seinfeld" DVD box sets were called "Notes About Nothing." There was...

‘Gh’ Spoilers: Jerry Jacks Saved Alexis From Murder Charges
Nancy Lee Grahn at an event for The 32nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards (2005)
General Hospital spoilers indicate that we still do not know who was behind the gun that Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) dumped over the bridge at Blackstone Canyon, showing up at the Pcpd in a box.

Alexis disposed of this gun because she believed that her daughter, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) killed John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington) with this gun that she stole from Sonny’s penthouse.

Ballistics showed that the gun that was sent to the Pcpd was not the gun used to kill Cates, and the charges against Alexis were dropped. Who found the gun, and sent it to the police? Could it be Jerry Jacks (last played by Sebastian Roche)?

There Have Been A Lot of Hints About Jerry Jacks Lately

Lately, there have been a few clues that Jerry Jacks’s return is on the horizon. Someone with government and weapons connections blew up Sonny’s penthouse,...

10 Things About Seinfeld That Make No Sense
Image
For a "show about nothing," Seinfeldhad a lot of success. The sitcom aired on NBC from 1989 to 1998 for 180 episodes across nine seasons. It won 10 Primetime Emmy Awards and received an additional 68 nominations. Above all, the show is still part of the cultural zeitgeist.

There's a lot to love about Seinfeld. The quotes are memorable and the characters, who should be unlikable, are endearing anyway due to the charm of the ensemble cast. However, for all that's great about Seinfeld, there are some things that make absolutely no sense.

Jerry and George Date Many Beautiful Women The Men Aren't Exactly Catches

Jerry and George aren't exactly nice guys on Seinfeld. They constantly find faults in the women they date. Jerry is a bit of a snob when it comes to love, and George is a selfish cheapskate. Plus, neither of them has a good job per se. Even Jerry's career as...

5 Things In Seinfeld That Don't Make Sense (& 5 Fan Theories That Do)
Image
Beautiful women dated George and Jerry on Seinfeld, despite their unrealistic qualities & immature behavior. Elaine, the most reasonable, hangs out with self-absorbed male friends, despite her disdain for them. Fan theories offer intriguing perspectives on Seinfeld, explaining inconsistencies and mysteries within the show.

Despite the fact that it is famously referred to as the show about nothing, there are many Seinfeld theories that have popped up over the years just as there are aspects of the show that simply don't make sense. Seinfeld revolutionized sitcoms when it became a hit in the 1990s as it showed that these series didn't have to have lovable and kind characters nor did they have to have moments of characters learning life lessons. Instead, Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David simply approached Seinfeld with the sole rule that it needed to be funny all the time.

The unique approach worked well for making this one...

The Tom Cruise Role That Was Written With Tom Hanks in Mind
Image
Tom Cruise is most closely associated with the action genre these days due to the success of Top Gun and Mission: Impossible, but in the 1990s, it seemed like he made it a goal to work with nearly every great filmmaker on a prestige project. Between Sydney Pollack’s The Firm, Rob Reiner’s A Few Good Men, Neil Jordan’s Interview with the Vampire, and Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, Cruise showed a surprising amount of discretion in the risky projects that he joined. Ironically, the role that earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor was Cameron Crowe’s Jerry Maguire, which was a mainstream success and audience favorite. The film gave Cruise some of the most endearing, iconic, and hilarious moments of his entire filmography, but it wasn’t a role that was originally written with him in mind.

I Forgot Renée Zellweger Was In Dazed And Confused — Her Uncredited Cameo Explained
Image
Renée Zellweger had a minor, uncredited role as Girl in Blue Truck in Dazed and Confused. Zellweger originally auditioned to play Darla, an antagonist in the movie, which could have set her career on a very different path. Despite starting with a small part, Zellweger's breakthrough in Jerry Maguire set the tone for her successful career.

Renée Zellweger's brief appearance in Dazed and Confused can easily go unnoticed, but she almost had a much bigger role. Dazed and Confused is a 1993 coming-of-age film directed by Richard Linklater, set in the summer of 1976. It follows a group of teenagers in Austin, Texas, on their last day of high school, capturing the essence of youth, rebellion, and the pursuit of identity against the backdrop of the 1970s.
