Pro wrestling legend Kevin Sullivan, who served as a major foe for Hulk Hogan on World Championship Wrestling television, has died. He was 74 years old.

On Friday, WWE announced that Sullivan had died. His passing comes months after he suffered a "devastating accident" in May, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser organized by his daughter, Nicole Sullivan, to help pay for medical expenses. The page noted that Sullivan "underwent emergency surgery that saved his leg and life but faced severe complications, including sepsis and encephalitis."

Sullivan was born on Oct. 26, 1949. He began his pro wrestling career in the early 1970s, and along with performing for various organizations, he'd become a part of World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where he was perhaps best known. He was here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, but now, after suffering a heart attack, popular wrestler and They Live star "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61. According to his agent, he survived the initial attack, which happened at his home in Hollywood, but subsequently passed away in his sleep.

Most famous as a wrestler, piper enjoyed a 30 year professional career and continued to make occasional appearances in the ring right up to this year. He made television appearances in Walker, Texas Ranger, Robocop: The Series and the Highlander series, and appeared in films including The Mystical Adventures Of Billy Owens and Pro Wrestlers Vs Zombies, but is best known for his appearance as the beleaguered day labourer turned hero of John Carpenter cult classic They Live, which won him legions of new fans. It's exactly what the title suggests: a bunch of old time wrestlers duke it out against a bunch of zombies. There's a plot but who needs it when you have "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Kurt Angle (ha!) and Matt Hardy duking it out against a bunch of dead alives? It looks as ridiculous as you could possibly imagine and I expect that with a group of people, this will play like gangbusters.

Trapped in an abandoned prison by a growing zombie horde, Piper and a group of fellow pro wrestlers, including “The Franchise” Shane Douglas and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, must utilize their body-slamming skills to survive the night.
