108 Media presents Fanie Fourie's Lobola and its release by 108 Media on VOD after Tuesday April 22, 2014 on iTunes http://bit.ly/1n8YQiM Amazon, Xbox, Playstation...
South African comedy in which newcomer actress Zethu Dhlomo shines, Fanie Fourie's Lobola won the 2013 Seattle Film Festival Best Film and Best Comedy at Best Comedy at the Sedona one, both audience awards.
Direcred by Henk Pretorius Lobola is a feel good film that lightheartedly addresses cultural divides and an evolving culture in stunning hilarity and beautiful production. This love story gives viewers a taste of African cinema, bringing together comedy and romance as young Afrikaner, Fanie Fourie (Eduan van Jaarsveldt), and beautiful Zulu, Dinky Magubane, fall in love.
After being presented with a dare at the cake shop, Fanie makes his first moves on Dinky after he is urged to invite her as a date to his brother's wedding. Marking the beginning of a tumultuous love story, this film goes on to break down traditional cross-cultural barriers, emphasizing the power of love. As Fanie and Dinky quickly begin to fall head over heels in love, their lives go awry as their loved ones struggle to come to an agreement on the Lobola – the traditional Zulu bride price.
