I cannot bring myself to call this guy a 'judge' because that he is not. He is unbelievably unfair in his ludicrous decisions and comes off as really arrogant and a show-off. When he hits that gavel it's a miracle the thing doesn't break apart from how hard he feels he has to hit it. This is a ridiculous waste of prime time television and should have been taken off the air the day after it first aired. In 2005, Ross was removed from the bench for unethical practices. Google it. In part, this is what the report says: Judge Kevin A. Ross -- the eighth California judge removed since 1995 -- was found to have "marketed himself as a judge in hopes that he then could leave the bench for a more lucrative career in television." The Commission on Judicial Performance also held that Ross had "trampled" on the rights of three defendants, including a woman he jailed for 2 1/2 days after tacking extra charges on to her case. Ross improperly commented on a pending case on a public television show and lied in hearings and documents relating to his disciplinary charges, the commission found.
I have read some of the reviews denigrating this judge and I do not agree at all. I find in most cases he is right on the money: he explains his decisions in detail -explains why he is ruling the way he does. The only downside of the show is that some of the plaintiffs/defendants seem like actors to me: I would hope, like other judge shows, they would use the real people involved in these situations.
I can't believe that 'America's Court with NOT A Judge Ross' is still being shown
on Ch 9 in Los Angeles! It is a travesty of the Justice System and Kevin Ross is a PATHETIC FRAUD! The cases are extremely ridiculous and very obviously FAKE and the so called actors are laughingly bad. There are hundreds of older shows that were cancelled over the years that could and should be shown instead. For instance, I'd love to see 'Perception' starring Eric McCormack, 'The Good Wife', 'Mad Men', 'Dexter', 'Breaking Bad' and 'Monk' to name a few of the wonderful shows cancelled. Get Rid of that HORRIBLE, FAKE COURT SHOW, 'America's Court'-THE SOONER THE BETTER!
Judge Ross was so wrong in that verdict if I'm in a store and he lock me out after I was in that store and just left it and I get hurt after trying to get back in he is just as responsible as the person that hurt me if it's snowing if I slipp outside Infront of that store I can sue him for damages same thing.
Why is this show even on the air in select places? Kevin Ross is not a judge anymore and was disbarred by the State Bar of California.
Kevin Ross was a judge in the Los Angeles courts at one time. Unfortunately, he treated his courtroom like his own little kingdom and regularly abused the rights of people coming before him. (Do a Google search for the Los Angeles Times article on this, published Nov. 17, 2005.) He violated so many people's rights, that the Commission on Judicial Performance (California's governing body over Judges in the State) conducted an investigation.
At the end of their investigation, they REVOKED Kevin Ross' judgeship, and the State Bar of California also DISBARRED this guy from ever practicing law in California again.
So now he ends up doing a TV show as a "Judge"?? Not only is that ludicrous, the show is awful. As another reviewer here said, it's legal lite, as though the Judge doesn't have a breadth of the law. Well... he doesn't! Not when he consistently violated the rights of people appearing in his real courtroom when he was a Judge.
