Michelle Arthur, who both directed and narrated this film, did a great job giving a suspenseful atmospheric story adapted from Jay Scott Nixon's novel. The artwork from Jeff Vernon used throughout the movie is excellent, and through it I really felt like I was experiencing 1850s Ohio. The score composed by R. Kim Shultz is exceptional, with nice music in the softer moments and more intense music in the thrilling scenes. Evelyn is a Cinderella-like heroine who endures much abuse and sorrow at the hands of her evil stepmother, and she is effective in providing the heart and morality of the story. Katherine is a horrific monster of a villain, and she is good at always keeping things captivating and giving the audience someone to root against. Ultimately, The Wisteria Manor is a very well-done and memorable period piece with lovely settings and music, as well as lively characters that make a long-lasting impact on the viewer.
Whether you know the names behind this film or not, the work is A-List quality. The Producer/Director has very creatively brought together exceptional audio & visuals from her Composer & Film Editor for "THE WISTERIA MANOR's story to unfold in an incredible way. You're in for a real thrill between its chase scenes, dangerous moments and intentions of characters who will stop at nothing. Although Mystery films finish the puzzle before the credits roll, listening to this Wisteria Actress/Narrator makes you want to go back in time and watch it over and over, because it's that great! Definitely a film worth seeing multiple times!!
I LOVED IT! It has a ghost, a villain, and young love. When you're watching this feature film you feel like you're actually in the story. You get emotionally attached to the characters. The spectacular narration makes you believe you have a stake in the outcome and what happens seems to really matter. This film consists of a mix of many still photos, striking footage, along with artwork to create scenes like colorful paintings. The originally-composed music was perfect too. Not too dramatic or loud, but enhanced just the right amount of feelings at the right times. So overall these components come together for a captivating experience!
Have you ever read a book then saw a movie made from the book later? If you have, I am willing to bet that you liked the book better than the movie. Not with this film! With THE WISTERIA MANOR you don't miss a thing!

What can one say, if not to praise the originality of the script and the way the narration seamlessly pairs with the music? The captivating shots, perfectly timed, draw you into the intimate essence of each scene. Love, mystery, and the unyielding karma of time shape characters like Mary, Jack, Evelyn, and Gwendolyn, all set in a haunting environment that grips you, sometimes tormenting you, until you're left breathless, clinging to a faint hope of life and justice. One that time seems to have forgotten.
Michelle shines in telling the story on Scott Nixon's novel, making you feel like an integral part of the narrative, urging you to rebel, intervene, and play your part in ending Mary's suffering. It mirrors the story of the world itself, where light fades into darkness, forcing us to confront our fears, doubts, and uncertainties but most importantly, to find within ourselves the light of hope and justice. Michelle also leaves her unique signature, creating a dimension and a sense of time that transcends our fleeting lives, placing them into something grander... Life, in all its mystic complexity.... Love.
The Wisteria Manor is, at last, a subtle mix of what narration, theater, and cinema unfold to carry us into our own imagination, at the very edges of our perception of our own lives... Are we the ghosts of ourselves, seeking to free ourselves through the love from our own servitude?
