Exclusive: Shane Gillis has joined the cast of the Amazon MGM Studios film Madden. He will play an original character, one close to the Madden clan.

David O. Russell is directing the film, which stars Nicolas Cage as John Madden, Christian Bale as Al Davis, John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden and Sienna Miller as Carol Davis. Production is currently underway.

Russell is directing a script he wrote, following an earlier version by Cambron Clark. Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are producing alongside Jonathan Shukat, Russell, Matthew Budman and Colin Wilson. Escape Artists’ David Bloomfield will executive produce alongside Smac Entertainment’s Michael Strahan and Constance Schwartz-Morini. The film is produced in association with Skydance Sports.

Comedian Shane Gillis is revving up for his own workplace comedy set in an auto repair shop, TVLine has learned.

Netflix has ordered six episodes of Tires, which follows Will (Delco Proper‘s Steven Gerben), a “nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain, who attempts to turn his father’s business around despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Gillis),” reads the official description.

Netflix has acquired the independently produced sitcom “Tires” from stand-up comedian Shane Gillis, who stars and serves as an exec producer. The six-episode scripted comedy, which was self-financed, will premiere on May 23.

As part of the deal with Gillis, Netflix will also produce a new stand-up special with the comedian — his second for the streamer, following last fall’s “Beautiful Dogs.” The news comes in the wake of Gillis’ “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig this past weekend.

Gillis is also a writer and the co-creator of “Tires,” which stars Steven Gerben as Will, “the nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain.” Will attempts to turn his father’s business around “despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Shane Gillis).”

The announcement was made during tonight’s show hosted by The Bear‘s Ayo Edebiri. Set to join him for the episode on February 24 is musical guest 21 Savage.

Exclusive: Comedian Shane Gillis will make his Netflix debut Sept. 5 with a stand-up special dubbed Beautiful Dogs.

Filmed earlier this year in Virginia during his Shane Gillis Live tour, Beautiful Dogs is a follow-up to Gillis’ 2021 YouTube special Shane Gillis: Live in Austin. It went on to garner more than 13 million views.

Gillis also plays Gilly on the Peacock original series Bupkis that stars Pete Davidson and Joe Pesci. The series, which also features Edie Falco, premiered on May 4 and comes from Universal Television and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. It has already been renewed for a second season.

Gillis’ other credits include starring in, as well as co-creating and writing, the YouTube sketch series Gilly & Keeves alongside producing partner John McKeever.

Beautiful Dogs was directed by McKeever and produced by All Things Comedy and Agi Entertainment.
