Director Venkat Prabhu shot to limelight with his 2007 directorial debut Chennai 28 and built his reputation with films like Saroja, Goa and Mankatha. And while the sequel Chennai 28 did not make as big a splash as the original, his fans have eagerly been awaiting his next project.
Now comes the news that Venkat will be helming a movie starring senior actor Dr Rajasekhar in the lead. Apparently, the star was floored by Venkat Prabhu’s narration of the script, and decided to hop on board the project immediately, say sources.

Chennai, March 12: After starring in a host of multi-starrers like "Saroja", "Goa" and "Mankatha", actor Vaibhav Reddy, who will soon be seen in a lead role in Tamil dark comedy "Damaal Dumeel", says he's willing to take up negative characters provided there's a scope for performing.
"I don't mind doing any performance-oriented role. It could also be a villain's role. I'm keen to do different films and roles instead of doing the regular commercial ones. That's why I've become choosy and I have been avoiding many films," Vaibhav told Ians.
Even as a villain, he doesn't want to play stereotypical roles.

[1] As the year comes to an end, anybody and everybody are posting their best of the year lists. Most of these lists contain variations of the same 15 or 20 films. To break the mold, some are even posting lists of the best films of the year that you probably haven't seen. I find that even these lists are filled with the same movies. And if you're a film geek reading a site like /Film, chances are you know about most of the movies on these lists. I wanted to do something different and compile a list of the best films of the year that you've never heard of. The selections should be movies that (for the most part) none of your family or friends have heard of, and you might even have to do some extra legwork to get your hands on. It is not an easy task. Even though we...

The big time comedy-bounded actors Premji and Rj Shiva will perform the lead role in Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Poochandi’. The film is produced by T. Siva of Amma Creations and is reported to be a quickie, which will be completed within short span of time.
Venkat Prabhu is little disappointed with his ‘Goa’ not doing well at box office. This time, he isn’t over the motto of spending lavish money as none of the producers agreed to sign deal with him. Thanks to producer Siva as he seems to have reciprocated for his previous hit ‘Saroja’ that fetched big collections at box office.
Yuvan Shankar Raja scores music to the film and as you all know rest of the technicians list is same as in his previous films. Precisely, we can very easily predict the shot narration with dozens of yesteryear songs used in backdrop with big-bulky face of...

Film: ‘Goa’; Cast: Vaibhav, Jai, Premji Amaren, Pia, Sneha and others; Direction: Venkatprabhu: Music Director: Yuvan Shankar Raja: Ratings: **
Venkatprabhu has established himself as filmmaker who can make meaningful films without any big stars. His ‘Chennai 6000028′ featured a host of newcomers and was a runaway hit. It was followed by another hit ‘Saroja’, a travelogue.
Both the films inspired Venkat to make another one with little.

Vega made a big impact as a student in the title role of Saroja in Kollywood last year and was immediately snapped up for her first Bollywood break in the movie Aamras, where she plays the part of a schoolteacher. Was she happy with the outcome? "Yes. Very much so," she confirms, "Aamras is a small film with a comfortable mix of newcomers and established actresses like Reema Lagoo and Zarina Wahab. The film has been directed by Rupali Guha, daughter of veteran filmmaker Basu Chatterjee. And it's doing better than what we expected. Like my first Tamil film, my debut Hindi film has also done well."
But Vega is not just one more pretty face on screen. The Chhattisgarh-born actress was brought up in Australia and has a degree in Economics from the University of New South Wales as having attended the Institute of Management in Bangalore. In addition,...
