Such a great review movie is not available, please try to make it watchable for everyone.
This movie shows you how hospitals in underdeveloped countries focus on money before the treatment of others where as in other countries the hospitals manly focus on making the community healthier. We understand that both gender of children should be treated the same and that they both should be allowed to do what they want even if it is not what they are not stereotypically what they would do. Everyone should understand from this movie that their parents are more important then anything. Responsible movie to watch! On This earth all are now being commercial! Just what our forefathers or may be it was gods to give only natural resources as free! May be in future it came to buy to inhale or exhale oxygen for on hour or for one second! Who will hope ? I already watched these kind of movies in India, Telugu films - mother character resembles like Sarada ji...In case if this film releases in all other languages of India, every body becomes great affectionate to this movie@
What worked:
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical about the quality of the movie while watching the trailer. The movie proved me wrong and I was glad it did. What stood out is the very fine performance by veteran actor Mithila, followed by Sarita's praiseworthy performance. I think the movie achieved this shape by their performances. Dipendra is one of the finest directors that we can vouch on not just for his choice of movie but also the screenplay and the dialogues. It's a very well captured movie so cinematographer needs the praise. It stood par the industry. Of course, the movie came with the message but the duality and the characters' complexity is a strong key point in the movie. It's the situations and the settings that presents in front of the characters that shaped their behavior and it's shown in a very moving and captivating manner. So overall the movie worked and worth the praise it is getting
What did not work:
Of course the movie is fictional and is intended with a mission, I found the way the accused is portrayed being a bit gloried and overly glamorized, not just because it's right or wrong also because the non linear approach would make it more humane and natural. I would have cut down the run time by cropping some of the dramatic scenes to crips the narrative.
Final verdict: recommended
The movie although good to watch lacks in major places. The title itself seems puzzling as it doesn't suit the story. Though its titled "Aama", which means mother in nepali, it focuses on the struggles of daughter. The setting of the movie is also inadequate as it mostly revolves around the hospital walls. At many scenes the dialogues of the characters are inaudible because of the overpowering sound effects of rain and bangle clanking. The acting skills also seems to lack in certain instance.
"Aama" is definitely not for the faint hearted. It's intense, distressing, disturbing, and very tragic. But whatever it shows is very close to modern day plight. It shows the hardship of parenthood, family, younger generation, career , and hospital. It keeps a low profile in terms of technicality, but it grips and at times gets deep inside the characters. The performances are awesome.
It ends it a lachrymose denouement and doesn't seem to give a progressive thought on the crises it revolves around. However, still the intense depiction of the emotions it sketches is something we haven't seen in a Nepali movie and in that terms the film is commendable.
Rating: 3 stars out of 4.
