I am a big fan of Cengiz Koskun and he didn't disappoint. He is outstanding in the film. I would say the makers did put a great effort in the making. All the actors put in great performances. The actor who played Romano was outstanding in the role. Cengiz has once again showed what a star he is. The movie lacked proper pacing and like some other reviewers pointed out, there actually wasn't any proper strategy shown in order to win the war on the part of the army of Arp. Special effects were great and cinematography was fantastic. The digital images creating the historic atmosphere was very cool and gave the feeling of 11th century. I would recommend it to war movie fans.
I watched this movie yesterday.
The casting of this film is very good, I like the dialogues too.
But that history has not been portrayed properly, it seems that there is a flaw in character building.
Although the cinematography was good but many things felt irrelevant.
A little more emphasis on plot would have been good, and seeing such a large battle being won by few many soldiers without any special strategy seems a bit odd. You can watch this movie because of the casting and cinematography. But if you watch it for history or story then I will say it will not be worth watching movie at all.

This Turkish historical act will be recorded in history, just as it was recorded by the great hero and Muslim leader Alp Arslan! Rest in peace heroic leader! Leader and founder of the Seljuk state, you are a martyr in the cause of God, may God have mercy on you, one of the most important Muslim leaders and great men of history, and the owner of the immortal victory over the Romans in the Battle of Malazgirt.
When the two armies converged, the Sultan asked the Emperor of Rome for a truce, but he refused, so the Sultan addressed his soldiers, saying: Whoever wants to leave, let him leave. There is no authority here that commands and forbids.

Cengiz Coskun as Alp Arslan is the perfect choice to play the lead role. His personality, voice and the whole persona does justice to the role he was offered. The cinematography and effects were amazing and top notch. However, the editing wasn't too good, there were some scenes which could have easily avoided and there should have been more effort by the makers on showing how they strategize the war. Anyway, the movie has heart and the choice of actors is definitely great. The actress portraying the queen is stunningly beautiful and acted amazingly well. Her screen presence was great. The actor who played Diogenes was perfect for the role. Overall, a great watch and a gruesome war movie which could have been perfect.
Very weak. A lot of imagination both about Christians and about Muslims. A lot of fanaticism. Jihad is always mentioned. The betrayals of some Greek generals and Norman mercenaries are not mentioned. Nor the betrayal of the Uzi Turks. During the battle, Roman Diogenes is also betrayed by Andronicus, the son of Ioan Dukas, who retreats from the battlefield. The latter wanting the Byzantine throne for his family. Alp Arslan's attempts to bide time are not mentioned. Very weak fight scenes. I have seen historical films, from the 80s, of much better quality. The merriment was brought by the white painted NATO helmets of the Turks. That was hilarious.
