Tong's real name, visible on his boyscout uniform, is given as Theerat Tongsrisuebasakul, a tribute to the late production designer Monchai Tongsrisuebasakul.
The old Chinese song kept playing in the movie was "Ming yue qian li ji xiang si" (Full moon, thousand miles, entrusting my love-sickness), by Wu Ying Yin, a famous Shanghainese singer from the 1940s. The song was about a lady losing contacts with her lover, she pleaded the full moon to entrust her love-sickness and telling her lover about her love and suffering. There is not even one single word of "There's hope when there's love" as mentioned in the movie.
The background song during the second encounter of main protagonists in Siam Square is also composed by the director and perform by the August Band. However, the track wasn't included on the OST, but later was included in the August Band's second album (the track name is "Ard-Ja-Pen").
Rak haeng Siam (2007) dominated Thailand's 2007 film awards. It won the Best Picture category in all major national film award events, along with several other awards, including from the Thailand National Film Association, Starpics Magazine's Starpics, the Bangkok Critics Assembly, Star Entertainment, and the Kom Chad Luek Awards.

The film was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor (Mario Maurer) and Best Composer (Kitti Kuremanee) categories in the Asian Film Awards at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, but did not win either award.
In October 2008, Mario Maurer won the Best Actor award in the Southeast Asian Film category at the 10th Cinemanila International Film Festival in Manilla, Philippines.
