Sports drama films come in all shapes and sizes, but one of the best examples of the genre comes in the form of boxing. From Rocky toMillion Dollar Baby, boxing films have always shown the measure of a person and their ability to keep going. In the case of Uppercut, starring German singer Luiii and Ving Rhames, the story is far more complex. A new take on a German film titled Leberhaken, the film follows Toni (Luiii) as someone wanting to be trained in boxing by a past champion named Elliot (Rhames).

Pete Sampras is asking for thoughts and prayers for his wife, Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, upon revealing her cancer diagnosis.

In a statement shared to social media, Sampras explained how it was time to reveal how his family had been going through an "exceptionally challenging time" over the past year. He then shared how Wilson-Sampras was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2022, having since undergone surgery and chemotherapy treatments. While acknowledging that the situation is difficult to to even speak about, Sampras asked for thoughts and prayers for his family as his wife continues her healing.

Jacobs' film is the most stylistically daring of the three: in addition to breaking the fourth wall, it depicts Ali — with boxing trainer Cus D'Amato — examining film highlights of himself and other boxers. Robert Townsend is in final negotiations to direct the family adventure film Lil Homiez, written by Dallas Jackson and Townsend.

Overture Films has acquired the rights to the film, which is based on a short film by Jackson.

Described as a hip-hop version of "the Little Rascals meets the Rugrats," Homiez recounts the adventures of five multiethnic kids as they try to save their neighborhood from being taken over by an evil land developer.

John Davis will produce with Jackson through Davis' urban family film banner DJ Classicz. Lloyd Humphrey and Marie Bell are exec producing.

Actor-writer-director Townsend, who will appear next in Of Boys and Men, will soon finish directing Phantom Punch, starring Ving Rhames. He is repped by Rigberg Entertainment Group, APA and attorney Nina Shaw.
