Happy Old Year

Wow. I think I've just seen one of my most favorite films. I'm utterly speechless right now but also trying really hard to write to preserve this moment. Any minute now, I feel like I'd burst into pieces because of how vulnerable it made me. 😶😶😶

This is pure genius mygad! Happy Old Year spoke to me in volumes and saw through my soul. It's like looking through the mirror for the first time in a long while and you see all these fragments of yourself that you never cared to notice before. I didn't even know I was broken until tonight. But it's liberating at the same time just to realize how much I can still be. I don't have anything new to say about all the technical aspects because I'm sure it's all been mentioned but I just want to echo forever that EVERYTHING worked for me. I liked the stillness and depth of each scene. I'm crazy for the Thai vibrancy that I just witnessed. And I'm FOR SURE KEEPING MY EYES ON NAWAPOL!!!

Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit's 'Happy Old Year' sparks joy by embracing the melancholy of its story. Thamrongrattanarit uses the metaphor of Marie Kondo's KonMari method as an analogy of a concise psychological portrait where self-discovery, the confrontation of the past, as well as letting go of the burden that tormenting memories become necessary tasks to start over from scratch. A simple yet important message about the need to start afresh, but also to remember the people and memories along the way. Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying excels with her engaging and captivating performance.

You'll absolutely disappointed if you expect for fast-paced romance & melodrama like others romance GDH film, but if you expect slow build-up, great character development, realistic acting, and bunch of emotional swings, this is for you.

It's very good. I like it a lot. Don't expect too much before watching It, just stay calm and enjoy the story.
