Night Bus

A horror short that I still don't really understand. While it has some scary imagery and concepts, it never used or capitaliced on them. It feels shallow and pointless after watching.

A bus driver is confronted by an evil entety.

The camerawork and usage is pretty good. It uses the bus cameras really effectively and it creates good suspense. Eery other technical aspect is just fine.

The movie doesn't really lead anywhere and ends up meaning nothing in my opinion. Maybe you find it more symbolic but I feel they made a set up without a payoff.

It's the bus drivers birthday. It doesn't really add anything to the plot and maybe it was supposed to with the evil ghost. But as fast as the movie begins it ends. No conclusion or exploration what so ever. It leaves you shrugging your shoulders and move on.

This short was not for me. While it has some good suspense and cool camera work, it's story is just there. Nothing interesting happens or is done. I can't really recommend it.

Simple ingredients , inspired crafted atmosphere, admirable Susan Wokoma as the strong woman and conscious night bus driver, the clues and the nuances of tension, the old shadow , hand print, cloth. And the precise last drop of story. Not great short horror but correct, proposing a good perspective helped by realism.

'Night Bus (2020)' is a short horror film that sees a bus driver haunted by some form of phantom during a late-night shift. The picture has a strong sense of atmosphere and, generally, looks fantastic; its crisp cinematography certainly suits its creepy content. Its scares are well-crafted and it strikes a good tonal balance, too. The main issue with it is the fact that its theming doesn't quite seem to line up with its horror. It's clearly trying to draw a comparison between its haunting and an implicit fear of the protagonist that I won't spoil, but these elements don't feel all that analogous - at least, not in their execution. The theme itself is a solid foundation to work from, it just isn't conveyed all that convincingly in the final product. Still, the thing is engaging and, generally, enjoyable. It's a solid effort. 6/10
