Air Gear was a super cool anime focusing on a boy who feels the wind is calling, for him to take to flight and ride high in the Sky!
The story follows him, and his quirky bunch of school friends skating on futuristic motorized roller-skates and doing all kinds of cool stunts from grinding on rails to even propelling oneself up vertical walls!!
But that's not all there is to it, as the anime has a very wacky hilarious sense of humour that deters it from being simply a run-of-the-mill sports anime, which it is absolutely not! Its more about the main character Ikki being as cool as he can be skating! And I would have to add, this anime would not be what it is without the Outstanding super hip soundtrack. Boy where to begin on that. It's so diverse from hip-hop to electronic, to funk to using american-african disco lady vocals! The music brings a certain beauty or levity to every scene, that makes it either awesome and cool as heck, or just exemplifies the beauty of an epiphanous achievement by Ikki, flying higher than he ever has before.
(P.s. The opening is an absolute banger, the first reason I considered watching it since June 16, 2023, the second being it was by oh!great and I actually watched Tenjho Tenge before it!)
Joining him are his best friend Kazu, fatboy onigiri, and a bigger fatgoy bucha. Not to mention he is accompanied and kept an eye on by two extremely busty hot girls Ringo & Simca!
It creates for a very interesting supporting cast, and the moody nights of suburban tokyo provides a very atmospheric and complex yet beautiful backdrop to all the crazy air trek "Parts Wars" that take place.
It doesn't have quite the most definite ending as the manga goes probably way ahead, but the show is certainly amazing and thoroughly entertaining for was it was and the English voice acting only made it even more funnier and cool!
