    Mostly terrible

After an unusual amount of great Winnie the Pooh projects, My Friends Tigger and Pooh is where Disney managed to make a Winnie the Pooh project specifically for a much younger audience. Yes Winnie the Pooh has been seen on diapers and baby toys for decades so I'm not going to pretend it wasn't a popular IP to toddlers before, but the thing is, it had a type of magic that still appealed to all ages.

Winnie the Pooh is by far Disney's most unique franchise in their animated work that I truly loved as a child and even admire as an adult today. The reasons are because it's about mental disorders, showing others how friends can have a great impact on your life, and how some people who seem angry or bossy aren't always bad people and are simply misunderstood. This series takes away the majority of what I just mentioned and makes it a cheap Scooby Doo clone about solving mysteries. A lot of things about this show doesn't even feel like Winnie the Pooh in regards to Disney and the original books by A. A. Milne. Since it's watered down to preschoolers it has a lot of tedious fourth wall breaks by a female character named Darby and it treats its audience like it's too dumb to understand anything that's happening.

Most of the characters are very out of character as they feel more like they were slapped into this misguided idea. Darby is basically an American version of Dora the Explorer who is really annoying and childish which is basically the problem with how this show is treated. Without Darby I feel like this show could've been as good as The Book of Pooh atleast. Pooh and friends are mostly just plot devices who agree with everything Darby says as they go on their pointless super-sleuth adventures. They don't learn anything that isn't related to solving mysteries and a bit of science. The message about friendship and what it's like with mental disorders is absent entirely. Owl is also missing for unknown reasons and all the new characters are very dull and uninspired. We only see Christopher Robin about 2-3 times in this series overall. The voice acting is mostly passable. Travis Oates sounds a lot more raspy compared to the late John Fielder as Piglet for some reason, not sure why.

The CG animation looks very mistranslated. Winnie the Pooh isn't something that can look good computerized. The characters look uncomfortable in these cheap 3D models and have a very jarring movement. Some of the backgrounds look okay but sometimes they don't look finished either.

I'll admit this is definitely better than shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but it still misses the entire point of Winnie the Pooh. Go watch The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh instead, it perfectly captures Winnie the Pooh compared to this crap.

Any Time, Any Place, the Super Sleuths Are on the Case

I've been a diehard Winnie the Pooh fan since birth (or close enough). I watched this all the time when I was both 4 and 5 years old, and I still enjoy it to this day, but I don't find it as good as I used to. I heard that a lot of Pooh fans didn't like it because of the inclusion of pop music, Darby "replacing" Christopher Robin, unnecessary new characters being introduced, and the switch to CGI. I understand that. This isn't the best Pooh show, but it's better than Welcome to Pooh Corner, Playdate with Winnie the Pooh, and Me and Winnie the Pooh!

The aforementioned reasons why it was hated are the only major differences between this and the previous Pooh projects. My Friends Tigger and Pooh is very faithful to the cartoons for the most part, and I got to admit that the animation is surprisingly well done, colorful, and vibrant with sophisticated movements. The old characters are still the same old lovable characters they've always been. Pooh Bear may be a Super Sleuth here, but he's still the same bear of very little brain. When my grandma and I first saw the characters in their Super Sleuth uniforms, we both thought that Tigger and Pooh Bear were dressed as Superman. Their Super Sleuth uniforms do look very similar to Superman's suit.

I'm aware that this doesn't mark Lumpy's debut, but this is what introduced me to him, and he's really cute and brightens up every episode he's in.

There are some great morals here and there, mostly ones related to problem solving. There's an episode where Rabbit has to write a song about his vegetables for a contest, and each of his friends write a song for him, but he likes all of them and doesn't know which one he likes best. Instead of entering one song in the contest, he merges all the songs into one song. What a perfect solution!

To put bread on the table, I find Rabbit more likable in this, Welcome to Pooh Corner, and The Book of Pooh than in the other Pooh incarnations. He's nicer and more relaxed, but he still gets irritated by his friends' actions at times.

Darby is nice and resourceful, though she nor Buster is as good as Christopher Robin. I didn't know this when I was little, but Christopher Robin appears in 2 episodes of the show, so Darby technically didn't replace him. I'm intrigued as to why Darby is the main human character here instead of him. I once googled, "Why did Darby replace Christopher Robin in My Friends Tigger and Pooh?", but I couldn't find the answer.

The other new characters are okay, nothing special. Beaver slightly reminds me of Gopher, but the latter and Owl unfortunately don't appear in this at all, though Pooh says that he misses Gopher in one episode.

The songs are good and easily remembered. The theme song is incredibly catchy. An off-screen singer (I don't know who) sings it in the first season, and to put more bread on the table, Darby sings it in the second and final season! The song "Think Think Think" that appears in various episodes references one of Pooh's catchphrases. Tigger has his own fast paced and bouncy song about his favorite hobby called "Nothing Can Bounce Like a Tigger." I agree that nothing can bounce like a Tigger. There's a whimsical song that all the important characters sing about the joy of the winter season called "It's So Much Fun in the Snow." I've never heard another song quite like it! I remember a song Eeyore sings about how much he misses his tail. It was high time a song like that came along because said character losing his tail is a running gag in the Winnie the Pooh franchise, but there's was no song about it before MFT&P (as far as I know). As good as the songs are, I'm surprised that Pooh and Tigger's signature songs didn't appear in this at all.

Newest in Line of Pooh TV Series is a Winner

Disney's "My Friends Tigger & Pooh" is their newest offering in the line of television series featuring the character Winnie the Pooh. For this edition, they've decided to shake things up a bit by making some changes -- doing the show in CGI, adding a new character, Darby (with her dog Buster), and targeting the show squarely at younger preschool audiences. Each idea had the potential to be dangerous if not handled well, Yet, for all the hullabaloo about how Christopher Robin was being "replaced" and the Pooh franchise was being ruined, this show has turned out to be more than a pleasant surprise. It's lively, a lot of fun to watch, and may actually teach its target audience a few things.

Isn't it nice to know that even while some things change, the best things remain the same? Pooh and his friends are still the same old lovable characters they always are. Pooh, Tigger and Darby may now be the Super Sleuths, but in many ways, Pooh is still "a bear of little brain." Roo is endearingly cute, and Lumpy (the wonderful heffalump first seen in "Pooh's Heffalump Movie") livens up the show every time he appears, and is a great friend to Roo.

In each episode, the Super Sleuths are called upon to solve a mystery. There have been some pretty unusual turns, however, and no matter what the outcome, you can count on a lot of fun and humor along the way. Oh, and Christopher Robin isn't gone. He's appeared in two episodes so far, and could easily be back for more. The quality of the animation, and general production in general, is wonderful.

As of the writing of this review, 22 episodes and a Christmas special have been released in the United States. Three more have aired only in other markets, and I look forward to these installments of the show. The program has also been renewed for a second season, and I can't wait to see what new direction it takes. So, in the words of Tigger, "TTFN - Ta ta for now!"

    Endearing and cute

I don't this is the best of anything to do with Winnie the Pooh, the underrated(by today's standards) The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the wonderful 80s show The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh are the epitome of childhood innocence and never cease to delight me.

I have to say My Friends Tigger and Pooh is surprisingly good, and perfect for kids. The animation is surprisingly well done, colourful and vibrant with sophisticated movements, while the music is memorable, catchy and simple. The stories are also simple and charming with some lovely educational morals, while even the dialogue is good on the most part, it is a little ropey on occasions especially in the first couple of episodes but as the series progressed it got significantly better. The characters are what make the show so worth watching though, they are all really charming and engaging. Pooh, Piglet and Tigger are delightful as always, while Roo is endearing, Darby is nice and resourceful and Lumpy is really cute and brightens up every episode he appears in. The voice work is top-notch as well, so overall, this is surprisingly good and I actually recommend this. 8/10 Bethany Cox

This was the last Winnie the Pooh TV show to have Ken Sansom as the voice of Rabbit before his sudden death of a stroke in October 2012. Tom Kenny started voicing the character by starting with Winnie l'ourson (2011).
