Lacey Chabert wanting to shed her wholesome 'Party of Five' image a bit I can see the logic in.
Unfortunately if you're going to do such things it helps to find a decent project, and this really isn't.
It's poor to say the least, and it's a crying shame to see someone clearly as likable and talented as Chabert being put through the motions on such a turgid and weak project such as this.
I'm not saying she should be stuck doing Hallmark films forever, but there has to be a happy medium between those and dross like this.
In these days of child abuse and child abduction so often in our news, this film thinks it is oh so very funny ...not ...to be kidnapping babies from a nursery to extort and blackmail men with. Well here in the UK, sorry everyone . ...she'd be in jail doing a lengthy sentence for extortion and child abduction. What is passed off here as a comedy is actually criminal.
Oh and the baby has gas in the restaurant. Puerile humour.
This film is definitely not funny .It is in bad taste and offensive to anyone who has ever lost a child in any sense of the word.
UK Channel 5 should remove it from the schedule. In fact I have switched it off.
As if the poor acting and editing weren't enough, the whole premise of the film leaves much to be desired. We find that the protagonist kidnaps babies in order to fool the man that she had a fling with a year earlier that he had fathered her child so she can swindle money out of him. We're supposed to empathize with her, but the whole premise makes it virtually impossible. Add to this comedic elements that are just not funny, dialog that is just unbelievable, and the aforementioned poor acting and you pretty much have a film that you can't wait to end. But after a half hour I could only see it getting worse, so I didn't even bother to finish the film.
