- Felicity Merriman: [runs up to Elizabeth] Elizabeth, how are you? I've missed you so.
- Elizabeth Cole: I'm sorry about your Grandfather, Felicity. Please accept my condolences.
- [walks away]
- Felicity Merriman: Elizabeth, what's happened? You're so grown up.
- Elizabeth Cole: I do not have time for idle chatter.
- Felicity Merriman: Have I done something wrong?
- Elizabeth Cole: You haven't done anything. My father's been arrested.
- Felicity Merriman: Arrested? Whatever for?
- Elizabeth Cole: For being a Loyalist!
- Felicity Merriman: I'll talk to my father, he can get him out, he knows important people.
- Elizabeth Cole: Your father knows important Patriots. The very same ones who put him in jail. What makes you so sure they'll do it? What makes you so sure he will?
- Felicity Merriman: My father's different from them, Elizabeth. You know he is. You can trust him. He won't stand for injustice.
- Felicity Merriman: It did no matter where our journey led us. We'd always have in our hearts, the comforts of that evening, the love of our families and the everlasting nature of true friendship.
- Felicity Merriman: Tis' never a good thing to run towards something if you're running away from something else.
- Felicity Merriman: Shouldn't you hold yourself to the promises you make, Ben? Isn't that what making promises is all about?
- Jiggy Nye: [running after Penny the horse, shouting almost unintelligebly] Run, ya fathom nag!
- [He slips and falls into a mud puddle]
- Jiggy Nye: [to Felicity; after she distracted him from causing further harm to Penny] Git away with ye! Ye spooked my horse!
- Felicity Merriman: [furiously] You spooked the horse YOURSELF!
- Jiggy Nye: [to Ben] Well, wha' do ye want?
- Ben Davidson: [holding out a bit and bridle] I have your bit and bridle, sir.
- Jiggy Nye: Give it to me!
- [Ben takes the bit and bridle out of Jiggy Nye's reach]
- Ben Davidson: [gravely] I'm waiting for payment sir.
- [Felicity rides on Penny the horse, who flawlessly jumps over the fence to escape from a certain fate; Penny stands as if uncertain]
- Felicity Merriman: [crying tears of joy] C'mon! Go! Why are you standing there? Just Go! Go, you're free!
- [a peaceful moment and then Penny brakes into a gallop into the woods]
- Felicity Merriman: [as Penny gallops away] Good-bye! Good-bye, my beautiful Penny!
- Felicity Merriman: [turns her tea cup over and places her spoon on top of it] Thank you, Miss Cole. But, I shall take no tea.
