Le parc jurassique III (2001)
NBC, Olympics vault over rivals Monday
Le parc jurassique III (2001)
NEW YORK -- NBC crushed the competition Monday night in the fourth night of primetime for the Summer Olympics, stomping a dinosaur movie on ABC and CBS' usually mighty mix of crime and sitcoms. NBC drew 27 million people to its primetime Olympics coverage, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. That was well ahead of the 7.9 million who watched CBS, the 5.2 million who saw ABC's airing of Jurassic Park 3 and the 4.2 million who watched That '70s Show and The Casino on Fox. The Olympics opened primetime with 20.5 million viewers at 8 p.m., rising to 30.5 million at 9:30 p.m. before falling to 27.3 million at 10:30 p.m. before the late local news. CBS remained competitive, drawing 8.9 million viewers for Raymond and 8.7 million for Two & a Half Men, both repeats. A repeat of CSI: Miami was even stronger, averaging 9.4 million viewers in the last half-hour.

CBS gets encore performance Mon.
CBS led the rerun-laden primetime pack once again on Monday with solid turnouts for repeats of CSI: Miami and comedies Everybody Loves Raymond and Two and a Half Men. CBS won the night in total viewers (9.6 million) and the adults 18-49 demo (3.2 rating/10 share), according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. CSI: Miami (11.1 million, 3.8/11) as usual was the most-watched program of the night. The eye network's 9:30 p.m. comedy Men (10.6 million, 3.8/11) impressed by growing slightly from its Raymond lead-in (10.7 million, 3.5/10) in the demo. NBC was No. 2 for the night (7 million, 2.9/9) with its regular slate of a Fear Factor repeat followed from 9-11 p.m. by fresh episodes of summer reality series For Love or Money 3 or Who Wants to Marry My Dad? Fox was a distant fourth (4.2 milion, 2.0/6) with only so-so performances from new drama North Shore and The Casino. ABC was third (5.7 million, 2.2/6) with its regular stack of 8-10 p.m. comedy repeats, capped by 10 p.m. special Funniest Families of TV Comedy.

Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones in Two and a Half Men (2003)
Fox originals no match for CBS, NBC on Mon.
Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones in Two and a Half Men (2003)
CBS and NBC battled it out for ratings glory Monday night with Fox's all-original lineup still struggling. With its regular lineup in reruns, led by Two and a Half Men (11.4 million, 3.9/10) and CSI: Miami (11.7 million, 3.8/11), CBS averaged 10 million total viewers and a 3.3 rating/10 share among adults 18-49, according to early Nielsen estimates. The season premiere of NBC's reality series Who Wants to Marry My Dad? (7.9 million, 3.5/10) fared better than the The Next Action Star debut in the 10 p.m. slot last week but still, it was a rerun of Fear Factor (8.9 million, 3.7/12) that lifted NBC to 8 million viewers and 3.4/10 in 18-49 for the night. At 9 p.m., NBC's For Love or Money (7.3 million, 3.8/11) was flat from last week. Fox (5 million, 2.2/7) was third for the night with scripted North Shore (4.6 million, 2.1/7) and reality The Casino (5.3 million, 2.3/6) both down from their so-so premieres last week. Rounding out the top four was ABC (5 million, 1.9/5).
