The Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special

This movie was great. It had the Lobo character done perfectly. This short movie is based on the comic book of the same name, basically, the Easter Bunny has had enough with Santa Claus and Christmas, so he hires Lobo to kill Santa Claus. This movie would've gotten a 10/10 except for 2 things. first of all, it's too short. The movie is only 13 minutes long. I know it's not the directors fault, I just wish the comic was a whole lot longer so the movie would be a whole lot longer. Second, there's some rap-rock crap played at the end and during the credits of the movie. other than those nit-pickings, this movie shows how comics adapted to movies should be done.

I have always loved Lobo since I first lay my eyes upon him. This mean killer, with the greatest look. It's a good try, to make a Lobo flick. The problem is that Lobo can't be made 'real'; at least it is very hard to make him look good (as you all know that he dose). But Ken Niederbaumer, that is the key special effects make-up artist, and Scott Leberecht, that have directed this Lobo flick, have made a great work.

Of course the acting is a bit poor, but I had expected something much worse.

If you get the chance to see it, I recommend you to do so. Lobo is Lobo, and I hope to see more of him in motion.

I am a big fan of Lobo. That said, I can say that the movie is in the same spirit as the Lobo issue it is based on. The film does simplify the story and remove some of the ultra violence, I assume for budgetary reasons. As a fan it is obvious that I am biased, however I do have a couple small complaints that only a die-hard fan would notice and in no way take away from the story. For instance in the comics Lobo has some pointed teeth but not fangs, also in the comics Lobo carries huge weapons but now he uses a pistol and some of the dialog just doesn't sound like what the main man would say. The only problems that a casual viewer might have is that it is sometimes hard to understand what certain characters are saying, as is common with a low budget project. Also the main problem is that the film is so hard to find to begin with. If you can find it and have some idea of the character or just don't like the holidays this is a great little film to add to your collection.

.. specially of trying to keep the film as faithful to the comic, which is one of my favourite comic books of all time since it came out in 1991.

The scenes follow the comic book quite closely, but the story is simplified for an obvious lack of budget.

The final confrontation is also changed to simplify the action which would have required a way bigger budget, and it's not too bad, really. Actually, the present is an easter egg to the first Simon Bisley (who also illustrated this Lobo Paramilitary Christmas) made called The Last Czarnian. Cool little detail.

On the downside, the film is technically quite poor, it's not only a matter of budget, the cinematographer and makeup artists didn't give a great look to the film.

Still, it's a fun short ride which big fans of the Lobo comics will appreciate, not as a great film but as a fan made piece.

I've been a Lobo fan since the early 90's. And when I heard rumors about a Lobo movie comin' together, I was pretty thrilled.

Then I realized that a Lobo flick could not be made..ya know..no one could play da main man. And they would shoot it to fit pg-13.

Well, with that in mind I got used to the thought that there will be a sad excuse for a Lobo flick (if it ever would be made).

Making a long uninteresting story short. I found out there was a Lobo flick made by a student named Scott Leberecht, I really wanted to see it. It took time to find a copy (because all the laws around copyright and student project in general).

I saw it, and it was pretty okay, I thought it would be worse. The make up effects held great class...Lobo's muscle outline could have been better.

The acting and general shooting of the 13min flick had some probs. But hey, I did not expect so much. See it, it's not a great piece of work, but I have to give him cred for making it! There is a lot of fans out there (including me), and they all have expectations on a Lobo movie.

Andrew Bryniarski (seems to been picked to play Lobo in da big movie also) did a good job. But I think Lobo needs some more work to fit the big screen both acting wise and dialog.
