Film Club

You saw it in the theater. You own the DVD. You even tried to get your friends and family into it.

Now, you must see the parody. Probably one of the best parodies I've ever seen (on par with "Hardware Wars"). Like the movie, it requires multiple watches to notice everything. The filmmakers took great care to match camera angles and to capture the tone of the original. Kudos to the crew to mimic the dress, props, and locations.

"Film Club" is a dead-on spoof of the popular movie "Fight Club," transposed from the world of underground fighting to the world of independent filmmaking.

The filmmakers take Fight Club's trailer (and some other scenes from the movie) and imitate them dead-on, right down to the cinematography. They poke some fun at Fight Club's own conventions (there are so many rules in Film Club that no one can seem to get them down), yet at the same time use lines from that film to set up industry gags (the Marla character tells Tyler, as in Fight Club, that he'll have to keep her up all night - he whips out a copy of Titanic).

A terrifically funny short film, all told.

Perfect! The most absolutely perfect take off on the movie Fight Club. Everything from it's characters, locations, shot choices, angles, and general feel is right on the money! It's a combination of the trailer and the movie, yet comments wonderfully on the film industry as a whole. Great gag having the Silent Bob mention as well. Very funny, and very very well done! Bravo!

Hands down the most accurate parody of a single film I've ever seen. This six minute short contains a barrage of gags at film and Hollywood. They range from the obscure (technical cinematography references only a 3rd year film student would understand), to very witty pokes at Hollywood.

The film plays in a kind of uber-trailer format, which is probably the wisest choice, instead of trying to make it a complete film. However, a lot more could be done on this subject than there was. I was expecting them to attack an Ebert look-alike while he was at a theater refreshment stand and threaten to take his...thumbs. Nevertheless, a must-watch for any Fight Club or film buff.
