Above the Law

I have watched almost every episode of this series... It has its moments and the potential is very good, with the plotlines developing satisfactorily, but overall it misses something. soap-like cinematography doesn't help, and simplistic scripts don't either. There have been some excellent episodes though, and it's shame that Ten won't be giving the series the chance of a second season to completely develop it into something good.

A pity this show was given a moveable timeslot. It never really had a chance. Scott Burgess did a terrific job as the minder and Jolyon James had a terrific smile in person. Pity they both seem to have dropped out of the scene recently.

I was pleased to see another new Australian series coming to TV. Unfortunatly Above the Law didn't live up to my expectation. Shoddy looking sets and some average acting just ruined what could have been a fairly decent show. It was these elements that got in the way of a storyline with potential.

The style of this television series is tedious. Lines are delivered in a flat manner by untalented actors, reaction shots prevent us from knowing who is talking at any given time, and poor timing and pace makes it extremely boring and tedious. No wonder is was an instant flop and quickly went to late night television. The opening title sequence is alright, though.

Its similiarity to the 1970s series No. 96. About residents in a block of flats above a place of occupation, No 96 - deli, Above the Law - police station. The main difference is that we didnt see nudity (or much) as with No 96.
