Good potboiler movie of Dharmendra plus Randhir

This is a great all round movie starring the "garam dharam" with Randhir as his nephew. a very good movie featuring good comedy, action and the usual bollywood spice if u can get a good copy or maybe the DVD of this movie simply go watch it!

you couldn't expect a better movie like this from dharmendra. he has acted like a gem in this one. of course by the time this movie came you could easily see there were other movies from the Super-juggernaut force called Amitabh Bachchan who by that time had attained Superstar status and was far ahead of all the stars of that time and even today that juggernaut seems to wam! its way through all the stars of the 21st century!

Manmohan Desai's weakest film in his dream year carried by the hype and leading pair of Dharmendra and Hema Malini

    Chacha Bhatija (1977) : Brief Review -

Manmohan Desai's weakest film in his dream year carried by the hype and leading pair of Dharmendra and Hema Malini. Now it's useless to explain why this weak film became a box office hit since there must be many reasons and many can tell many stories. It was the 4th biggest hit of Manmohan Desai in 1977 after Amar Akbar Anthony, Dharam Veer, and Parvarish, and I don't wonder why it couldn't go higher than the other three films because it was, by miles, the weakest film amongst his four films. All four follow a similar "lost and round" formula, and all four films begin with a backstory of wife/mother, husband/fatheh, and son/stepson. Chacha Bhatija also sets a prelude to its story before Dharmendra and Randhir Kapoor make their entries as Chacha and Bhatija, respectively. From "Yahudi" to "Bobby," that's how the timeline is defined outside a cinema hall, which means that one and a half decades have passed. Prayag and Salim-Javed write small, small nuances like this that feel good, including some edgy dialogues. "Yah to sirf batva tha, aap khud, kaha aur kitne gir gaye aapko ko pata hi nahi." Say, how's that from a younger brother to his elder brother for defaming his Sita samaan bhabhi? Some pumping action sequences and reunion moments keep the film floating, but seriously, it's too dramatic, or rather, it's overdramatic. I mean, how can someone stretch a climax scene just for a "pen." That wasn't just one scene, but there are many scenes that are too odd and too dramatic to understand and digest for a 70s masala film. Even Yahudi itself wasn't so dramatic for the late 50s. Dharmendra and Hema Malini's screen presence felt reasonable, but the romance and songs were forced. Many scenes are still inspiring today's films, as we saw "Bhoot Raja" inspiring Nawaz's role in Housefull 4, but they were known cliches for any film in the mid-70s. In short, Chacha Bhatija is sticky average and far below compared to the other 3 films Desai made in the same year.

    Classic Garam Dharam

A typical Manmohan Desai lost and found story starring a great cast, an immersive plot and fun all the way. The story -After the death of his first wife Sita, Teja marries Sonia, who wishes to usurp his property. She creates a rift between Teja, his brother Shanker and his son Sunder - is familiar, but it's executed with skill and panache and the performances and the plot is top class, and you end up chomping on the bit, hoping that Jeevan and his co-conspirators get their just desserts. It's classic masala film of the highest level sprinkled with comedy, drama and fights.

Khan Review - watched it in 1977

Well when watched this movie as a kid in movie theater I enjoyed this movie like any kid at that age and time when watching movie was like a festival. Later again watched it on TV as an adult and enjoyed the same. This movie like MD best masala movies Amar Akbar Anthony, Dharam Veer will always be in my heart. As a kid this movie gave me whole some entertainment. This will one of the movies of MD which defines bollywood. The story, the location, the studio set up, songs, comedy, the typical bollywood climax, the direction, music, acting everything is THE BOLLYWOOD. Any one looking for bollywood entertainment should watch this.

Manmohan Desai stated "No self-respecting director today would condescend to work with Salim and Javed because they keep on interfering with the director's work. I have decided never to work with those two charlies, if I can help it. I have had enough with that single film Chacha Bhatija. Even Cacha Bhatija was not as great a success as my other films without Salim and Javed's script like Amar Akbar Anthony or Dharam Veer. Why Prakash Mehra's Muqaddar Ka Sikandar was a bigger hit than even his Zanjeer".
