Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will open the 7th annual TCM Classic Film Festival on April 28thwith a 40th Anniversary screening of the Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman political thriller All The President’s Men (1976).

The festival, set to take place April 28 – May 1 in Hollywood, will also include tributes to the following screen legends:

· Director-writer Carl Reiner featuring a screening of Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid (1982) and an extended conversation

· Actor Elliott Gould featuring screenings of his Golden Globe nominated performance in M*A*S*H (1970), The Long Goodbye (1973) and a conversation in Club TCM

This year’s festival will include appearances by:

· Eva Marie Saint – on hand to introduce a screening of the political comedy The Russians Are Coming The Russians Are Coming (1966)

· Director John Singleton – presenting a 25th anniversary screening of his coming-of-age classic Boyz N The Hood (1991)

· Actor Stacy Keach – discussing John Huston’s gritty look at...

"Fred Baker, a filmmaker, actor, director, screenwriter and jazz musician, died of natural causes on June 5 in New York City," reports Variety. "He was 78. Baker was among the subversive, experimental, underground filmmakers of the 1960s and 70s, turning out films such as Events, The Murder of Fred Hampton and 1992's White Trash. He was an uncredited exec producer on Gillo Pontecorvo's 1966 classic The Battle of Algiers. A longtime friend of comedian Lenny Bruce, Baker was best known for his 1972 documentary Lenny Bruce Without Tears."

Fred Baker Film & Video Co, founded in the 70s, acquired and distributed such films as David Lynch's Eraserhead, Luchino Visconti's The Innocent, Marco Ferreri's Tales of Ordinary Madness and Jean Charles Tacchella's Cousin Cousine. What a week! First of all, if you got caught in the fiasco of the ticketing site for Weird Al last Friday, we’d like to apologize. We greatly underestimated how excited people were about this event, and it sold out in mere minutes, completely destroying the ticket server. We are, however, in talks with Weird Al’s posse about the possibilities of a second show, so sit tight and we’ll give you details as they come!

Lately, it has been crazy gorgeous outside. I guess this is the “nice” weather that comes around once a year. We’re taking advantage of it, this week specifically. We have two outdoor screenings! Tomorrow (Thursday), we’ve partnered with Amoa again to screen Nashville at the beautiful Laguna Gloria! Saturday, Tim and Karrie League are opening their home for a MS150 BeneFeast screening of Triplets Of Belleville!

We Are Back In Action! SXSW is over for another year, and we are jam packed with Super Fun Times! For reals. Lamar starting Friday for all you thirty-somethings in an existential crisis… or for those that just want to see Ben Stiller in an existential crisis.
