This show is great. The actors who play the four main characters are just marvelous.
Michael Rosenbaum plays as Jack, a suave guy. His jaded twin, Jane is played by Azura Skye. Selma Blair plays as the cheeky Zoe. Zoe has a high school crush on the brother of a wheelchair-bound classmate. Last but not least, of the main characters is Duncan, a geeky teen.
What makes this show so great is that it all takes place in New York. Unlike like Dawson's Creek or Saved By The Bell, ZDJ&J is about gowing up in New York, noy about going through high school. A sure bet.

This is possibly one of the more overrated shows on the WB ever made. Take four people all of whom look in their late twenties and make them pretend to be High Schoolers and you end up with a far-fetched piece of crap.
They pretend to be "Friends" hanging out in a coffeehouse, and tredge through High school with completely annoying characters and terrible plotlines.
Zoe played by the likable and often charming Selma Blair is a cardboard cutout as the lead, and the rest of the characters are horrible... with one exception.
Micheal Rosenbaum is so-o-o-o-o funny in this show and could have been the only hope if the show would have changed direction. His comic delivery is on key and he has impeccable timing. He truly has a knack for comedy.
The show was later retooled into just "Zoe" with the same characters, except they all worked in a restaurant, but that was just as awful and it was thankfully cancelled.
Blair later redeemed herself making some good movies, and Rosenbaum redeemed himself taking a powerful turn as the young Lex Luthor in "Smallville" often stealing the scenes from other cast members with his great acting.

So Much more could have been done with this cast. The show is the same sort of cookie cutter format as Saved by the Bell, California Dreams etc...
Worth watching for the cast. Selma Blair character is much the same as her character Cecil in Cruel Intentions. In my opinon this show was created because they could get Manchester Prep. passed the censors.

Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane was a show with a lot of potential. Which is why i was surprised when it only ran for a year. Jane (Azura Skye) and Jack (Michael Rosenbaum) were awesome characters played by fantastic actors and they could have taken the show to new heights. Although when the show started, it tried to be a teenage version of Friends and Will and Grace, it picked up later when the title was changed and Zoe (Selma Blair) and the gang started working. Sadly, the show was destined for only 13 episodes and was taken off air in response to the low ratings. I, for one thought the show had real potential and it could have improved if only the public had given it a chance.
I think that Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane was hysterical. The comedic of the actors was brilliant and the character development never lagged. The situations may have occasionally seemed unrealistic, but 1)they were different from many other shows that use the same old gags over and over, and 2) who wants to watch real life? Real life is monotonous and mundane 99.9% of the time. Even reality shows are not reality. Finally, I loved the fact that not everything in this show was about sex! there are so many shows where the only means of drawing an audience is but using nothing but blatant, tasteless innuendos. Zoe, Duncan, Jack, and Jane does use the gags but approaches it from a much more innocent direction...something that this world needs much more of.

- AnecdotesDuring filming of one of the early episodes, lead actress Selma Blair became so frustrated at fumbling her lines that she passed out on the set, in front of the live studio audience. The filming for the rest of the day was postponed while she recovered.
