I remember back in 1988 when "Young Einstein" came out and Yahoo Serious came onto the big screen. That was a classic Yahoo Serious movie. This one had it's moments, but overall lacked a consistant storyline. It jumped from place to place. All though Aussies loved this move, the US has been luke warm to it. Rock on Yahoo Serious! Saw it on a coach, I fondly remembered Young Einstein and it hitting at the right moment, this just felt a bit tired in execution, I know the film is coming from a good place, and maybe the plot would of worked if it had more going beneath the surface instead of everything being a setup for the next gag, the "deer in a headlights" performances can be charming but it wore thin pretty quickly.
Production value was pretty decent though and I can't fault them for not trying.
The characters overall varied and they did not cut corners on sets and production design.
The writing was just bad, I think it needed a way better plot, I wanted to like it but I maybe laughed one time while he was digging around in the pit, needs an edit maybe it could work better, its an interesting production all the same, if any credit could be given it would be for trying to be original with an old premise in an Australian setting.
Run time was to long and getting through the story felt badly paced, I really think and edit on a montage or two maybe with a good Crowded House tune might have helped to charm it along better not sure what would have worked but it felt like it had a lot of the right ingedients it was just badly put together, maybe they did not know what they had in the edit, but what they ended up with sadly was a bit meh.

Mr. Accident is a deliberate series of non-stop disasters and near death experiences reminiscent of Saturday Morning's Warner Brothers Cartoons. Like the coyote who falls off the cliff 5 times per episode, the "leading man" (more like an over grown klutzy child) always manages to postpone his meeting with the Grimm Reaper.
This Australian "surprise" is offensively unfunny, and at times even depressing. The 2 (out of ten) are is for the visual stunts (some never attempted by anyone since Daffy Duck) and the use of vivid colors (like in those high class national laundry detergent commercials).
There may be an age bracket where this "comedy" finds a following. I have definitely passed that age long ago. Calling all preteens: Here's a "ha-ha" for ya!

Well, I said it for The Castle, Pricilla, Muriels Wedding, and a few other movies lately. This movie is the kind of movie that, although should be a credit to Yahoo Serious and everyone involved in making it, is the kind of movie that Australians should hide whenever family from overseas visit. Blatantly obvious gags are used to death and unfortunately the funniest parts are within the first few minutes.
But sometimes the overseas market surprises. Most Aussies hate the idea of Crocodile Dundee, and are shuddering at the idea of a trilogy, but hey, the Americans think it's funny to laugh at us, so they get what they want.

This is actually one of my favorite movies of all time.
I don't see why everyone thinks this movie is so bad. This is the cutest movie I've ever seen. You might think I don't know anything about movies, but I do. I've seen extremely bad movies [ Manos : the hands of fate, etc. ] as well as movies that are considered genius [ such as 2001 : space odyssey and Clockwork orange ]. I'm not going to try to convince anyone that it's a good and smart movie, because it's not. It's not a smart movie, and it's not supposed to be. And guess what? That's what's so good about it.
It's a childish, surreal and cartoonish movies with colorful characters. I've seen other cartoon-like movies in my life, but I've never seen anything like this one. Just like the other Yahoo Serious movies, this is meant to be silly. If you rent this movie with the idea in your head that it has to be intellectual, you'll be extremely deceived. But if you like cartoons and if you like pure silly-ness, you'll like this. Personally I thought the characters were very attaching and the story very charming and cute. I can see why someone would think it's stupid, but at the same time you can't expect this movie to be different.
Of course, this isn't the type of movie that everyone will enjoy, but I think it deserves a lot more than 3 on 10. Even if you don't like this type of cartoonish fluff, I think it's a good movie to rent and just watch if you're bored. It's entertaining and colorful.
