i saw this movie during my childish age..i have seen this movie more than 20 times.balachander's one of the best movie.nagesh as maadhu shown his extraordinary talent in this film. nobody will leave the movie without crying.nagesh an orphan was living in a house with several families and working for them for food.the movie goes with tortures suffered by nagesh and later getting degree and settle in a job.the love between jayanthi and nagesh is awesome.jayanthi was titled as mad by the others.her acting is also extraordinary..one of the best 60's movie in tamil.Everyone's acting is very wonderful..u will get a precious 3 hour film..

Excellent movie by K Baalachandar and marvelous acting by Nagesh. A movie to be definitely watched. The story, dialogs and portray of characters are very nice. Watched the movie in full without a single pause or break and loved the way the story moves. A different portrayal of people bragging for money in a single apartment and where they exploit the hero for their needs. Shows the selfishness among people and how they do good to exploit people for their needs explicitly. It is an epic movie and gives you pleasure even if you watch it after so many years. I watched the movie after 47 years it was made. Wonder why I didn't watch it earlier!!! Will watch it again and will refer others to do the same. Hats off to Nagesh Sir and also Baalachandar Sir. Also the title song is very impressive and attractive to the movie title. Vaali sir has done a very good job with the lyrics and MSV sir on the chords. As the title says, it is about how a person overcomes his difficulties and succeeds in life and also love.

very good film nagesh great acting n sundarajan super n chetan muthuraman superb. 1.nagesh with sowcar janaki the conversation & discussion of newly arrived films is super. sowcar janaki husband hmmm nothing to say ....each n every characters r designed well & executed superb. balachander great director given an milestone film for nagesh.

dialogue r very good n music .... music director give very good songs n lyrics also with great sense n emotions.

manoramma did a fantastic role same as sundarajan.

actor srinivasan also perform well with his thief role.

actress good expression n good acting executed in a mean time in film.
