Under the guise of a light-hearted kids movie, this is actually a cautionary tale of be careful what you wish for! It's a good movie, and very effective for the emotional impact that it has on me at the very thought of doing what those kids did! I just can't imagine! Well, I can, and that's the problem.
Good movie, but ultimately tragic for a while. Very tragic! This movie gave me the feeling of death, even though nobody really dies in it. Wow, for a movie to be able to do that, that's some kind of powerful film!

- AnecdotesFinal film of André René Roussimoff, who died a year before this movie's U.S. release.
- GaffesIt is never explained why Mrs. Cavour, who employs the Martin siblings (and who is far more sensitive toward the kids than their actual mother is), can't simply take them in herself...so they won't be split up forever by Mrs. Richardson, the social worker.

Elizabeth: ...You say the Mommy Market has been here since 1742?
Edward: That's the year it was established. It hasn't always been the way it is now. It used to be called the Parental Exchange, Female Division.
Harry Martin: Is there a Male Division - like, a Daddy Market we can go to?
Edward: You can go there instead. But nobody can go to both. That's always been disastrous.
- Générique farfeluThe closing credits begin with showing Sissy Spacek playing the mom and the three other moms before the credits roll.
