"Auntie Lee's Meat Pies" is supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek (no pun intended) horror film. Basically, Aunti Lee (Karen Black) employs her four nieces to lure unsuspecting men to their shack. The men are then robbed of all their belongings and get ground up as meat pies to hide the evidence.
The only way you can really stomach this film (no pun intended) is by looking for the stars. Karen Black took the role to break what she thought was her pigeon-holing as a good two-shoes. It's fun to see Pat Morita take a break from his Karate Kid series to play the sheriff. The best cameo belongs to Huntz Hall as a farmer. Hall, for those who don't know, was one of the original Dead End Kids, also known, in various incarnations, as the East Side Kids and the Bowery Boys.
But, the best reason to watch this film is for Auntie Lee's nubile nieces. Pia Reyes, Ava Fabian, Kristine Rose and Teri Weigel were all Playboy playmates prior to this movie. Weigel is also currently a porn star, so you can see why men eagerly followed her home.
If you're in the mood for something really gruesome, though, try finding "Sweeny Todd: The Demon of Barber Street" instead. Auntie Lee may make meat pies, but you will find something much better with her nieces' eye candy.

Auntie Lee's Meat Pies has the feel of an early 90s soft core porn if you replaced the sex with death.
As can be expected from this, the acting/dialogue are ridiculously cheesy. The special effects are are equally bad, looking like someone raided their local Spirit Halloween store for body part props.
Things get especially funny when a facsimile of Poison stumble into the kill lair, which starts to take on the look of a glow in the dark mini put. It's pretty nifty looking though, as the world simply doesn't have enough neon drenched massacres.
It's all good dumb fun if you enjoy the goofy take on grisly gore. Amusingly random casting as well, including scream queen Karen Black, Mr Miyagi, that weird looking dude from The Hills Have Eyes and a bunch of Playboy playmates.

This is a crazy horror/comedy in the same vein as Motel Hell. This is not as well written or performed as Motel Hell, but I did enjoy it. Karen Black is a devil worshiper that has her house full of hot chicks lure and kill men and sell them to the community as her famous meat pies. This also has Michael Berryman and Pat Morita as well. This is a very macabre and extremely campy comedy that is as morbid as it is cheesy. Utilizing 80's stereotypes and a lot of T+A, Auntie Lee's Meat Pies is some great family entertainment. The film is hilarious and absolutely outrageous, but it does have a lot of scenes that don't make sense and could have been worked out a bit better in the script. Even with more than it's share of flaws, I did enjoy watching this. For the most part, the film is very tongue in cheek and embraces it's cheesyness. Auntie Lee's Meat Pies is the type of disjointed insanity that is probably best enjoyed with heavy duty pharmaceuticals.
Oddly enough, with my admiration and fascination with horror movies, then I have actually never even heard about this 1992 horror comedy titled "Auntie Lee's Meat Pies". Not before now in 2021, as I stumbled upon the movie by random chance.
And seeing that the movie had Karen Black on the cast list, of course I needed no persuasion to sit down and watch "Auntie Lee's Meat Pies". Then I noticed that the movie also had Pat Morita and Michael Berryman on the cast list, then of course things became even more interesting.
Let me just say that "Auntie Lee's Meat Pies" was an enjoyable movie. Writers Joseph F. Robertson and Gerald Stein definitely managed to put together a good storyline. Sure, this was archetypical early 1990s stuff and it showed in every way, but that was part of what made "Auntie Lee's Meat Pies" so fun to watch. It was as cheesy as it was fun.
"Auntie Lee's Meat Pies" is not a movie that takes itself too serious, hence the comedy aspect to it. And while the comedy is subtle, it is definitely the type of dark and twisted humor that appealed to me, so I enjoyed what the writers did with the movie.
If you haven't already seen "Auntie Lee's Meat Pies", then I suggest you do so, should you have the opportunity. I was genuinely entertained by director Joseph F. Robertson's movie.
My rating of "Auntie Lee's Meat Pies" lands on a six out of ten stars.

I love horror movies! So, I was shocked to see this film was from 1993 and I had never heard of it! There's something about this movie that I really like. Only discovered it a month ago and I've watched it 3 times already! Yes, you can tell it's a low budget movie but I have to say, they made the most of what they had. Good actors, good script (although slopes off at times) and a genuinely enjoyable film.
Best part of the movie is how incredibly beautiful the nieces are! All four actresses were actually playboy models before signing on to do movies! Give this a go, trust me, you will not be disappointed!
