L'Homme de Hong Kong

Modifier
  • Jack Wilton: [to his party guests] Hey, listen everybody! I presume you've all heard of kung fu? Well, it so happens we have a well-known exponent of the art here with us. I was wondering if you'd like to see an exhibition - just a little one...
  • [crowd responds enthusiastically]
  • Jack Wilton: [whispering, to Fang] During which I may break your back... in front of all these people.
  • Inspector Fang Sing Leng: I did not come here to play games.
  • Caroline Thorne: I hope you know what you're doing!
  • Jack Wilton: I never met a Chinese yet... that didn't have a yellow streak.
  • [Grosse is worried about Fang's impending interrogation of Chan]
  • Bob Taylor: Now look, don't worry - he's in good hands.
  • [Fang throws Chan into the interrogation room]
  • Morrie Grosse: Hey, hey, hey... hey! I don't mean to be rude, man, but no torture, no thumbscrews - this is Australia. We're not allowed to get into that sort of thing, mate.
  • Inspector Fang Sing Leng: He's a Chinese, I'm a Chinese. Don't worry!
  • [Grosse is annoyed with Fang's aggressive methods of pursuing Wilton]
  • Bob Taylor: Alright, cool it.
  • Morrie Grosse: Oh, shut up, Bob! Hey, enough's enough! Extradite Win Chan: that's what you came here to do, but everywhere you go, you just commit mayhem, man! Look, I'll tell you what I'll do; I'll give you my list of contacts, I'll give you every name I painstakingly bloody gathered over the past two years, and you can do the lot of them. This is Australia, mate - *not* "55 Days at Peking"!
  • Inspector Fang Sing Leng: [enraged] Hey! Don't give me any shit!
  • [after fighting on top of Uluru]
  • Bob Taylor: Welcome to Australia, Mr. Chan. I'm Taylor, Federal Narcotics Bureau. And you're wanted in Hong Kong for robbery, drug peddling, and murder. Oh yeah, we've been expecting you. So do yourself a favor and answer a few questions. Who sent you? Who do you work for? You're no use to them, now.
  • Win Chan: [in Mandarin] Stick your head up your ass... and close it after you.
  • Bob Taylor: Yeah, and I love you, too. Now, what are their names?
  • [Chan spits at his feet]
  • Bob Taylor: No speakity English, huh? Okay... we'll get someone down from Hong Kong who can speak to you! I'm sure you two'll really hit it off.
  • [opening titles play]
  • Bob Taylor: While you're here, we'd like you to, er, enjoy yourself. Do you have any vices?
  • Inspector Fang Sing Leng: I like to gamble, now and then. I go to Macau; it's legal there.
  • Bob Taylor: Well, it's not here. But there's, er, three places you could go to downtown. Wouldn't know the names, of course.
  • Morrie Grosse: And you can't get in for the politicians.
  • [Taylor chuckles]
  • Inspector Fang Sing Leng: [having taped a grenade to Wilton's mouth] In China, we often settle disputes over lunch. I hope you like what I have prepared for you: a ninety-second fuse grenade. I have set the timing device for an appropriate period. One sudden move and the pin is pulled, and the countdown starts. Then I will throw you in the safe and shut the door. You will write a full confession and sign it. If you do not confess, BAM!
