Shazam!, released in 2019, was the story of Billy (Asher Angel), a teenage boy granted the ability to transform into an adult, off-brand Superman (Zachary Levi) with the simple cry of the film’s title. Today it is rarely upheld as a highlight in DC’s catalogue, but at a time in which the studio’s output so often felt exhaustingly cataclysmic, it was refreshing to see a superhero movie that forefronted sweetness and sincerity.

What a difference four years make. Shazam!’s sequel, Fury of the Gods, has now been sent out, defenceless, into DC’s cinematic no man’s land. The film marks one of the last breaths of an old regime at the studio, which is now under the control of Peter Safran and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. Their universe will presumably dispense with the dishevelled approach to tone and continuity that characterised the tenure of their predecessor Walter Hamada.

Michelle Obama paid tribute to her mother Marian Robinson in honor of her 80th birthday.

The proud daughter shared a beautiful childhood throwback photo of her with her mother on Instagram late Saturday.

In the caption for the closeup photo, Obama praised her mother, saying that she is her “rock.”

Former Atlanta Braves player Keith Lockhart’s teenage son is battling for his life after being hit in the face with a baseball during a tournament game last week, multiple outlets report.

In a social media video shared on Thursday, the star celebrated the athletes of the Special Olympics at the 2017 World Winter Games in his native country of Austria. “These guys inspire me!” Schwarzenegger, 69, captioned his clip captured on Snapchat.

Crowdfunding platform GoFundMe and the Special Olympics have teamed up with five YouTube stars -- Burnie Burns and Gavin Free of Rooster Teeth, Meredith Foster, Teala Dunn, Matt Santoro -- to support prospective Olympians through coordinated fundraising efforts.

The participating YouTube stars will sponsor individual Special Olympians and will launched campaign pages on GoFundMe to support those athletes and raise money on their behalf. The accrued funds will help the featured Olympians travel to the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games, which will take in the Austrian towns of Graz and Schladming between March 14-25. The YouTube stars will come along for the journey as well and will spectate the Games in Austria.

A 26-year-old woman with Down syndrome turned her dream of running the Austin half marathon into reality on Feb. 19.

Kayleigh Williamson was determined to get to the finish line and completed the run in 13.1 miles in six hours, 22 minutes, and 57 seconds.

“I wanted to get to the finish line,” Kayleigh told Today. “I was proud of myself.”

Kayleigh’s mother Sandy isn’t surprised that she became the first person with Down syndrome to complete the half marathon.

The Special Olympics announced this week their first-ever social fundraising collaboration with the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe. The partnership will help support a number of teams, delegations, and athletes by providing funds to help make their Olympic dreams a reality.
