I had very low expectations based on the reviews, but I ended up actually finding it very entertaining and never had the urge to hit fast forward.

First of all, despite portraying a serial killer, it is not dark or scary at all. The movie does not take itself too seriously, with the main characters constantly breaking down the fourth wall at the right times. Acting is also much better than expected from a low budget black comedy.

Quirky? Sure. Cliches? Plenty. I'm not sure I would watch it again, but I would definitely recommend it when you have to kill 100 minutes at an airport or on a train.

The reviewers who've said this is an obvious self-flagellating, movie-referencing, over-the-top, wannabe-clever movie is right. The people who've said this has an awesome soundtrack and some fun moments are right, too.

There are bits and pieces that are absolutely god awful. I, personally, couldn't stand the constant narration or the fact that what she's saying is literally what she's doing on screen. So much of it came across as someone reading a book over the movie and it's constant. There's also an eight and a half minute exposition dump at the very beginning.

The main character is an evil Mary Sue, super rich, loves showing it off and bragging. The only time I enjoyed her at all were the scenes between her and the male lead, and even then it was only sometimes. A lot of their dialogue was nothing more than quickly spoken sentences and repeated phrases for a solid couple of minutes because that obviously equals comedy!

On the other side, it does have moments of actual fun, but they're few and far between. So, yeah, both sides are right, hence the middle-ground rating. I didn't mind it too much.

I sit here after just watching this film and feel I've definitely wasted the last hour and a half, I could've cleaned the house in that time. I wonder what Ed Westwick was thinking agreeing to be in this.

One of the unintentionally funniest and terrible movies, arguably ever made. On the same level as "The Room" but what with considerably higher production values. It's worth it just for the experience. Likely to make those "Worst Movies of all Time" lists. I'd grab a 12 pack and commit to it because it's absolutely hysterical.

There is nothing redeeming about this "film". There are movies that are sooo bad that they are entertaining like Plan 9 From Outer Space and The Room but this isn't one of them. Terrible acting especially by the lead woman. Awful script. Production values classless. Not sure what this was supposed to be.

It feels like the vanity project of a rich guy's wife. There's nothing at all relatable or interesting in it; you've seen the same things in better movies plenty of times. Even the rich people in Mr. & Mrs. Smith had the decency to play down their wealth, and that's a much better version of this.

The acting is atrocious; I never though Ed Westwick was that great on Gossip Girl but he made it work for the show. Here he's wooden and unfunny. And she... well there's a reason she had to make a movie in order to star in one. Oof.

Plus, how many more tributes to the 80s do we need? It was 40 years ago, let's move on already.

Watch Promising Young Woman instead. You'll still feel icky but at least you'll have had a better time getting there.

Apart from the SPECTACULAR soundtrack (it really is great) this movie is just bloody annoying. Dont waste your time with this... Hope I helped

Absolutely awful rip off of American Psycho. Could have succeeded as a different gender perspective. But wanders off to nowhere land of bad dancing extravaganzas.

Promising young woman is a 1000 times better version movie than this. The acting was awful! and I have enjoyed bad movies before. I kept fast forwarding to see if it got better. as you see by my rating it didn't. good luck if you watch it!

It is supposed to be fun, glamorous, sexy and over the top and it pulls it off. Yes it may be a bit of a vanity project but it's a good one. The soundtrack is excellent - to me of a certain age anyway - she is gorgeous and can wear anything and make it look sexy. The two leads play off each other well with some funny skits. It's just entertainment and at times is really quite funny. My only qualm is the gore is not gory enough - they should have really gone for it and that would have played against the luxury. I liked it and enjoyed it.

It doesn't take itself seriously and neither should all the nay sayers.

Read a lot of the 1/10 reviews and I think people may have been looking for Oscar nomination worthy writing, producing, directing and acting instead of just enjoying the film for why, I think, it is.... Just s not of mad fun! Someone, in their review, even claims it is an American Psychic rip-off - well for a start she even references that film in the story AND says it is NOT just American Psycho with a woman! Also American Psycho is a serious psychological thriller whereas this is a COMEDY..... Anyways I really enjoyed it and have recommended it to my friends..... So give it a go with a mindset to having a bit of fun and I think you'll enjoy it. But don't expect deep, meaningful dialogue......

This isn't even so bad it's good. It's infuriatingly bad. The damn narration is so abundant it feels like you're watching book on tape, but instead word vomit that had nothing to do with the plot. The best thing is it tells you that it sucks while at the same time telling you that you shouldn't think it sucks . "It's a rip off of American Psycho but better." I didn't even like American Psycho and I know that's not true. Acting is atrocious and more wooden than a stockpile of Pinocchio VHSs. The writing is nonsensical and all tell no show. The product placement is so bad EVERY. SINGLE. JOKE. Falls flat. Or is just a blatant ripoff of something that did the joke better. Don't believe any of the positive reviews they either have brain damage or they are sucking the teet of Tammy Wiseau because she's the wife of Steve Mnuchin.

If you wanna watch a good movie that this movie I guess trying to be watch Deep Murder instead. It's parody of sexy thrillers that is actually funny.

I gave this 1 star only because I couldn't give negative stars. The dialogue in this movie is corny, the acting is terrible, and the film editing is choppy. There was no flow to the movie - it is truly difficult to watch a movie this bad.

What a mess. I mean, a complete and total trainwreck. I am embarrassed for Linton, I feel this is the best she could have done.

I don't get who this film was pitched at.

It's a blatant rip off of American Psycho, and it tells you as much in the opening monologue, which is a bold move to say the least, but to do that you have to make sure what you're creating is good.

The problem is American Psycho is a brilliant piece of cinema, and this is absolute garbage.

The writing, the acting, the camerawork... all awful.

I don't like turning films off once I've started watching them but I couldn't sit through all of this, maybe it gets amazing at the end but based on the majority of what I saw I'm not optimistic.

So back to my original point; who is this pitched at?

Men wanting to get a bit of sexual gratification? There are quicker and easier ways on the internet.

Women wanting to watch a powerful female lead? She's too out there for anyone to relate to..

American Psycho fans? They won't like how much of a rip off this is

Those who don't like American Psycho? They certainly won't enjoy a crappy pastiche.

I think the intended audience for this movie is one woman... and she's the one who wrote, directed and starred in it.

Cute outfits and shoes. Stupid story.

I fast forwarded it to get through it as quickly as possible.

This truly is a high-concept movie. It's funny, perplexing and honest. Not five minutes in and we get a fourth wall break, from there it's confusing hilarity all the way. Each scene is filmed in the cinematic style of a medium or genre that sets the tone in direct opposition to the content of the plot. For instance we get scenes shot in the style of promo videos or commercials with some out of place sitcom sound effects and fart jokes; jump scares followed by intentional bloopers, unnecessary 360 degree pan shots and more that have nothing to do with what's happening at that point in the story. It's also high-concept in it's narrative premise: 'what if a woman were the ultra rich sociopath with the high-powered job and a man filled the role of the "naive gold digger"?' Finally, it's a social commentary on the currently prevalent societal expectations toward women and men. In short, this movie is weird, entertaining and thought-provoking. You should definitely watch it.

I'm embarrassed that I actually watched this movie. From the beginning, this felt like an ego trip gone awry.

The acting was subpar and the premise was confusing. I stopped watching when the "love" interest started dancing in the leads silk bathrobe.

Stay away from this garbage.

Everything this girl could dream of, xoxo and YSL!!!! I love the story line and fashion. Music is classic. The ending, well, WE NEED PART 2.

This is like an over-the-top female version of American Psycho, where the leading female role repeatedly breaks the 4rth wall to engage with the audience. Great 80s/90s retro-vibe at times. It's not a deep movie, but it's a lot of fun. Ed Westwick is great here... if you liked him in White Gold, you'll enjoy his performance in Me You Madness.

Don't over think it.... it's meant to be a fun romp.

Louise Linton really thought she did something with this film. With a script that hardly makes sense and not an ounce of entertainment to mention, one is left scratching their head trying to figure out what was trying to be accomplished here. This film rips off American Psycho, Atomic Blonde, and others I'm sure I missed. There are countless pointless scenes that add absolutely nothing to the film. You can tell Linton thought pumping money into this mess would make up for her shortcomings. In reality, she just paid for licensing on 80s songs, which are honestly the ONLY enjoyable part of this film.

This movie is proof that money does not solve everything.

This film is nothing. It's tagged as a comedy thriller. I didn't come close to laughing once nor did I find any scene thrilling. This is only ever the 2nd movie I have turned off because it was so unwatchable (the 1st being Cats)

The two main characters are so bland and annoying, specifically the lead charcater, can't remember her name because I was falling asleep. She has an inner monologue almost every 2 minutes, that's just her boasting of how wealthy, good looking, smart and successful she is. It's supposed to be played off as comedy but it's so repetitive and gets irritating quickly. A truly abysmal film, boring and annoying from the outset and goes absolutely nowhere. It's not even a "so bad it's good" movie. It's so bad you'll have wished you didn't waste any of your evening on it.
