John De Bello began with this short film before Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes, and here he introduced for the very first time Mason Dixon and Wilbur Finletter. This is a silent film that has a not very good quality, but it has funny gags that show the humor that would be seen later in the killer tomatoes franchise. It's an interesting spoof to spy titles as Mission: Impossible. Its half hour running time is enough to offer a couple of laughs. Sure, it cannot be expected a good quality short film for being a student film, but even so, it's funny to watch. At least it serves as the beginning for the killer tomatoes franchise, and its fans would find it kind of curious. My final rating for this short film is an 4/10.
Gone with the Babusaland (1971)
** (out of 4)
This thirty-one minute short film was shot silent and has many of the cast and crew members who would later go on to work on ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES! This was director by John De Bello and written by De Bello, Costa Dillon and J. Stephen Peace. This is basically an action/comedy and I honestly couldn't tell you much of what it was about. The most interesting thing is getting to see cast members like Peace and David Miller years before they were fighting tomatoes. The film certainly has some of the same type of comedy but overall there's nothing overly special here. I think fans of that 1978 film will want to check it out but I'd think most won't find too much interesting here.
