Here's something for L.A. based genre filmmakers. From the sounds of it, SellingYourScreenplay.com's event Six-Figure Film Festival and Conference is targetted at filmmakers, giving information, expertise and guidance for low budget and independant filmmaking. Of particular interest to genre filmmakers will be the screenings of Japanese short film Love Shack, feature films Animal Among Us and The Rideshare Killer. The latter was directed by Ashley Scott Meyers who also runs Sys.com and wrote such gems as Snake Outta Compton and Ninja Apocalypse. Giant Killer Ants takes a trip down peyote-lane with a 1980s glam rock band who have only had one hit, and they plan to rejuvenate their career by heading to a music festival in the middle of the desert. It’s a damn good week to be a Stephen King fan, that is for sure, because we have two must-own Blu-ray releases coming out on Tuesday, perfect for some inspired Halloween-time viewings. You can practically hear the pitch meeting roaring off the screen: “It’s ‘Snakes on a Plane’ meets ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ with a generous dash of ‘Sharknado,’ just for added bite!” Such is the premise and tone of Hank Braxtan’s upcoming “Snake Outta Compton.” From the looks of its first trailer, it appears that that comedy is going to deliver on that promise, no matter if it was a good idea or not.

The film follows a scrappy young rap group on the verge of making it — they’re just days away from signing a major record deal, presumably one that will rocket them into the big time — who unexpectedly run afoul of another Compton resident: a massive mutated snake who will not stop growing after a homespun experiment gone totally awry, and apparently has quite a bad attitude to boot. Snake Outta Compton... after watching this ridiculously bonkers trailer, I'm not really quite sure what to say. You'll just have to experience the trailer for yourself and enjoy the insanity. The crazy thing is, I'm not actually surprised that this movie exists. We've been seeing some really weird shit lately.

The story follows a rap group on the verge of signing their first record deal. Obviously, this rap group is Compton's only hope in a battle against a giant mutating snake monster, that was created by some local Urkel-like teen nerd. 

This movie was directed by Hank Braxtan and as you'll see, it spoofs films like Training Day, Snake on a Plane and Straight Outta Compton. The movie looks completely absurd, but there's an audience out there that's going to love it.
