No crazy special effects required, no pretentiousness. Shaun keeps it real on screen and lives through the experience. This is the kind of docco that all folk that have stars in their eyes should view. Through candid interviews from actors with lived experience hustling and trying to make their dreams a reality, Surviving sunset showcases that the stars in folks eyes may quickly be replaced by glare damage from the bright lights if not adequately braced for the journey.

As the headlines says, I found Surviving Sunset to be deeply personal (raw), unflinchingly honest (real), and told with passion (riveting). The film is also grounded in a sense of purpose that draws you even farther into the story as it begins to unfold and serves to transcend the physical journey itself.

Shaun Anthony Robinson is an engaging storyteller and generous interviewer who seems to genuinely care about the lives and times of his interviewees. He's the ultimate underdog and fish-out-of-water, and you get to see what that looks (and feels) like from the often-gritty, sometimes glitzy-glammy Hollywood street-level. You can't help but pull for him, and want him to succeed. You also get a sense that he actually can--and will--make it in this business.

If you know anyone who is thinking of taking a similar leap in life, then Surviving Sunset should be required viewing.

This doco reminded me of my time in the early 1990's living in Hollywood, being from Australia, and trying to make "connections" whilst in the USA. Shaun (as well as many other actors now realise), is that you don't necessarily have to "make it" in Hollywood to be successful.

It did take me a while to realise that this documentary was shot over several years. There's a good mix of Australian and American actor interviews who are at various stages of their careers. They shine a light on their own struggles in the business and offer some insight with their experiences.

One thing that comes out is that you always need to be prepared - as an actor and in life.

Explore the journey that it takes to make in today's entertainment industry. I was thrilled to have learned so much. This documentary tells a story about the minds of creatives and business professionals alike. Great to seat and watch with family and friends and get a birds eye view of the entertainment industry and what it's like trying to break in and spread your talent to the masses. I had the pleasure of viewing this story early on and man it does disappoint, watch and see the actor's journey before they are booked and get on the screen to tell the story of a lifetime. Its a must see tell everyone.
