Kodi

The movie was very good with good acting by all the actors. Songs and BGM in the movie was very good. Everyone acted very well in the movie.

So going into this film I had no expectations, since I've heard a bunch of mixed reviews for it. Also I thought it would be filled with cliches, but I liked how the comedy in this at the start was not corny but actually funny. Also with most dual role films, there are not a-lot of discernible differences between the different characters played by the same person in tamil movies, but here Dhanush did a really good job playing both a mild-mannered professor and Kodi, the politician. Also Trisha did a great job. That said, there are a few cliches, but it was still way better than I thought it would be. This a really good political thriller and felt very fast paced! The songs were really good too.

Kodi(2016): National Award Winner,Dhanush is one of the few actors of South India who has both mass and class following.His performance is most lauded in all his movies and now he came with Kodi which is special for him as he acted in dual role for the first time.As his previous 3 movies (Maari,Thangamagan,Thodari) gave bad results,let's see whether this Kodi brought him success..

Plot: Set against a rural backdrop, the film reveals what really goes on behind the murky and manipulative game of politics.Dhanush plays a dual role -- an aggressive politician Kodi and his twin brother Anbu, who is an intelligent, meek college professor.Kodi is determined to make it big in the world of politics but his biggest opponent is his girlfriend Rudra (Trisha). Both belong to different political parties and are arch rivals but don't allow their political differences to interfere with their love life.Things begin to get messy when both are chosen as the MLA candidates for their constituency.Rudra makes public a privately shared moment with Kodi to gain political mileage. Kodi is furious and strikes back.Their secret relationship is now exposed and both are in trouble with their party leaders.Due to unexpected circumstances ,Anbu gets involved in this who is in love with Malathi (Anupama). Why is Anbu involved in this political conspiracy and who won the elections??Is it Kodi or Rudra??

Plus Points: 1)Performances: If Dhanush stars in a movie,we need not to specially mention about his performance.As usually Dhanush is the major highlight of the movie with his energetic performance.The way he showcases superb variations in both his characters is just amazing.Trisha as a heartless power-hungry politician is decent.Anupama is cute and gave good performance.

2)Screenplay and Direction: Kodi has engaging screenplay through out the movie.Director has succeeded in making an interest political thriller without missing commercial elements.Durai Senthil must be appreciated for bringing a good political thriller in these days.

3)Music: Santhosh Narayan songs are brilliant but lyrics are very bad.Listen to them in Tamil,you will love it.Kodi theme,El Suzhali are chart busters.Background Score is brilliant..

Minus Points: 1)Climax: Climax is big letdown for this movie.It should have ended thrilling but director ended it abruptly in regular format.

2)Lyrics: A I have said earlier,Lyrics are terrible which may affect the songs.

So,Kodi is an interesting political thriller which are very rare these days.Dhanush's performance,engaging screenplay and brilliant music makes this movie worth watching

Overall- Just watch it for timepass.

Movie Marathon V.3 # 196

After the debacle of Thodari and Thangamagan, Ace Actor Dhanush is back with the powerpacked performance in directorial venture of R.S. Durai Senthil Kumar.

The Story revolves around the twin brothers Kodi and Anbu, their lives, love interests and their fight against a toxic Mercury dumping factory in the township.

Dhanush's performance was top notch. He was too brilliant in both characters. Trisha, WOW, she delivered her career best performance. Dubbing was the only negative in her performance. Anupama who .debuted in Premam was the real surprise for me that she acted out in ease. Karunas, though in a small role, but was good. Sharanya, as usual a good mother character was an easy job.

The movie had some clichés but the story and screenplay was engaging. Durai did an excellent job in narrating this story. The first half was good with romance, comedy and some action and turns into a serious one in the second. Santhosh Narayanan's Background Score added spice to this flick. Songs were hummable and the background score was really apt to the play. Action Choreography fared well. Camera-work, Lighting all worked well ..

All in whole, an above average and engaging Political Thriller with mesmerizing performances from Trisha & Dhanush
