I mean, it's not the worst tv show I've seen but it's really not the best either. The worst part of the show is how laborious it is. The editing is repetitive to a point where they can have the same clip of someone saying something 3-4 times during an episode and some correlations are far fetched. The stories are interesting but too diluted with uninteresting, boring content.

I'm rather baffled at the two 1 star written reviews of this show. Have they actually watched it?
Every episode I've seen has used the real names and they often show CCTV and photo images of the criminals and victims. Granted, the dramatizations are a little weak (especially the ones depicting British crimes), but it's factually accurate.
Despite his unlikely name and slightly eerie appearance, Dr. J. Buzz Von Ornsteiner is the stand out talking head, often offering some interesting psychological insights into the "why" element of the offence. Not fantastic, but definitely worth watching if you like real crime.

I'm sure Dr. Ornsteiner is a perfectly wonderful guy, but his narration is terrifyingly irritating. It's like he thinks if he ups the dramatic delivery--that it adds to the drama. It doesn't. It's high school, textbook bad. And those "dramatic" PAUSES??!?!!? Like nails on a chalkboard. Makes me want to get out a stopatch and TIME how many seconds of my life I'll never get back.

Ploddingly slow. Takes 44 minutes to tell a 10 minute story due to all the scripted padding. As the other reviewer said, there's little to no real footage or actual witnesses presented. I've seen more factual infomercials. Don't waste your time.

Entertaining as the show is the connections are always tenuous and it is really here to find the creepy looking guy's plastic surgery. Every episode he looks more like Liberace.

Such promise. Actual video footage and interviews but such cheesy sound effects. I watched S1 E1, and won't watch more. Cutting in a woman's scream virtually at the end of every scene cheapened the seriousness of it, and showed little respect for the victim Cassie. I like true crime but this seemed almost disrespectful. The detectives interviewed were serious and grave, as they should be. Only for the makers to add cheesy sounds. It's like they couldn't decide if they were going for a serious documentary vibe or a 80s style horror movie trailer vibe, complete with deep-voiced dramatic narrator. The sound editing was so jarring and annoying that I can't bring myself to watch another episode. Don't go in expecting a serious doco.
