I'm sure my review is a bit blinded by nostalgia, but I'll still put it here anyways.
I really liked this show, and have been rewatching it. The animation is cute and the characters are fun together. A lot of people say that the characters are bland and similar, and while not untrue, it doesn't make them less fun to watch. They have fun together and honestly just fill me with a sense of joy. The dialog can be a little forced sometimes, but I honestly don't mind. I think it's overall a pretty fun show.
(It should also be said that I haven't seen the original show, as it just never really made it's way into my life)

This show is a favorite of my young daughter, now 10 y/o. She has re-watched this now and then over the past several years. It seems that the critics just don't get it. Kids don't have the same expectations for animation that adults do...and who is the audience for this show anyway?! And any good parent knows that talking animals and magic are exactly how this age group plays every day.
I really hope the creators revive this program in some way. Surely, it's popularity on Netflix has proven true for a revival.

From an adult perspective, it's really meh. The animation and voice acting is lacking and the story feels so forced throughout the majority of the show. In the original h2o, the trio did a way better job of trying to hide their identities and powers, but the girl in this one act like they don't even care if their exposed. However, it's still cute and fun. From the other things my daughter likes to watch, it's a nice and entertaining change.
From my daughter's perspective, it's a really fun and quirky show. It's got all the ingredients to keep kids entertained; mermaids, talking animals, and magical powers. Excellent show to put on for your kids while you have things to do.
In all honesty, it doesn't even compared to the original h2o, which I absolutely loved. But it's good for kids.

It's like they stripped away all the personality of the original show. The Australian accents missing was jarring, the girls don't have individual personalities at all like the original (Rikki especially), the animals being able to talk feels forced and unnatural, and the plots are unoriginal and boring.
The colors are nice, though the animation is a bit glitchy at some points.
I watch a lot of kids shows and this one isn't bad, it's kinda fun. But because I've seen the original I can only see it as a stripped down version of the first show.
Maybe some kids will enjoy it, but if you're an og H20 fan, don't watch, it's disappointing.

Seriously, this is like a dumbed down version of the original H2O. The character designs are okay, but the first episode of this show wasn't nearly as good or intriguing as the original H2O series' first episode. Also, the fact they made the sea creatures talk was a big turn-off. This is like if H2O got mixed with the later seasons of Winx Club in a freak experiment. The animation isn't that good, the acting isn't that good either, and plus, it doesn't seem like H2O at all.

- AnecdotesThe first episode is basically a retelling of how the trio became Mermaids, which was seen in the original live action series. In this version, after entering the Moon Pool, the girls are then exposed to the Moon Light, which transforms them into Mermaids. But in the original version, they turn into Mermaids, a day after they enter the Moon Pool.
