From the beginning to end the film is amazing. There is no other way to put it. You get a feel right away how much heart and soul was poured into making this nearly a decade old project come to life! The leads were drenched with professionalism! Full of friendly and very funny laughable moments! Highly recommend anyone and everyone to watch this film! I can assure you will not be disappointed!
This film is a very clean rom-com that will keep you laughing through the whole thing. It is so fresh and funny but, it also touches on real life situations that can happen. It also teaches respect and the importance of making and keeping promises.
Mybmom and I had the honor of being extras on thos film. During a restaurant scene we were the extras in the booth behind the 2 main leads and it was so hard to keep a straight face and not laugh while we were in action. The main characters meshed so well together and kept everyone smiling and laughing. Watching the completed film was the best. If you haven't seen this film yet, you are missing out. Candy J. Beard and her son Daniel Beard make an amazing team and their films just get better and better. That shows in the many awards they have won for this and other films.
We also wete honored to meet the amazing Ken kirchival (known for the Dallas series) who is originally from Clinton, Indiana. He was so down to earth.

I was able to screen The Promise at my film festival this past April and it is a wonderful film. The love shared by the two main characters were evident from the beginning. Having been very close to my own grandparents, I loved to see their heartfelt interactions. And laugh a bit in the process.
The writing was superb and very natural.
I would not hesitate to tell anyone to take a chance and travel down the road with Mackenzie and George Miller; See Mackenzie explore the dating scene, while George continually lays speed bumps out for her. Witness their growth during the whole process. Love!!

It almost seems a little backwards to review a film you participated in, but I have to tell you what a wonderful experience it was to be a part of this wonderful rom-com. This was definitely a labor of love. I started out as a simple photo on the shelf, as the grandmother that asked for "the promise" to be made, and ended up a real part of this story. (thank you, Candy) What a joy to be able to play the flashback scenes with Bruce & Katie, two very talented actors for whom I have a great deal of respect. Katie is simply amazing as adult Mackenzie. I could go on about her forever. And Bruce is the consummate troublesome grandfather. Anything you asked of him, he would do. This is yet another wonderful script by the stellar Candy Beard. And Daniel Beard's innovative camera techniques make this a wonderful work of art. You will enjoy this fun-loving film with your whole family.
The Promise. Is a very well thought out, well written, and wonderful feel good walk down the road of Mackenzie and George Miller's life in a season of time which has one Miller haunted by memories of the past and being afraid to move forward with his future, whule the other Miller just wants a chance to balance the life she has with the life she dreams of.
While Mackenzie and her Grandpa George are all each other have after the passing of her parents and her grand mother, she longs for a "normal" life like every other woman dreams of from the time they are little girls: to find her Mr. Right and live happily ever after. But its a bit more complicated than that since Mackenzie made a promise to her grandmother before she passed away to always tske care of and watch over her grandfather. Makimg it worse yet is the fact that Grandpa George would do anything to keep Mackenzie to himself.
Together they live, love, laugh, cry and try to find the common ground necessary to survive between the Promise and happily ever after.

- AnecdotesTHE PROMISE was actually first filmed in Clinton, Indiana between March and September of 2012 under the title of "This Promise I Made" However, the first director and DP (one and the same), along with an additional camera man wanted to add in a nude shower scene for the 23 year old leading lady.
When Executive Producer (and Screenwriter) Candy J. Beard quickly refused the request, He told her that without a nude shower scene, the movie would never see the light of day. She dismissed his words and they continued filming. But little did she know that the director was secretly sabotaging the film, both visually and the audio. He kept the video files from Candy until filming was over.
Once Candy became aware of the sabotaged project, she filed a lawsuit to hold him responsible and tried to get her lost $20K film budget back. Sadly, however, three years later, after still never getting her day in court, Candy decided to drop the lawsuit and simply move on, for her own peace of mind.
She then changed the title of the film, did a re-cast of almost all of the actors and reached out to her friend, Ken Kercheval (formally of DALLAS) to ask him if he would return and re-shoot his scenes. Of course he said yes. The film, with its new title, new cast, an incredible new (and trustworthy Director, DP and Editor all in one) and a new film location (Terre Haute, IN) began production for the second time in June 2016 and wrapped up exactly one year later.
