Netflix’s hit teen drama My Life With the Walter Boys is based on the popular YA novel by Ali Novak, which originally rose to fame on Wattpad. First published in 2010, the story captured millions of readers with its narrative. The novel was officially published in print in 2014 by Sourcebooks Fire.

Author Novak released a sequel novel titled My Return to the Walter Boys in April 2025, which also centers on Jackie’s return after the summer. However, the Netflix adaptation will not follow the book’s plot, taking a fresh path instead to continue the story on screen (via Deadline). The show is now headed into Season 2 with 10 episodes on August 28, 2025, on Netflix.

After leaving Silver Falls following Alex (Ashby Gentry) confessing that he loved her and her kiss with Cole (Noah Lalonde) at the end of the first season, Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) spent the summer in New York City trying to run from her past. But after Walter family matriarch Katherine (Sarah Rafferty) convinces her to return to Colorado, Jackie decides to go back but wants to make amends with Alex and set boundaries with Cole while finding her place once again within the Walter family.

However, fitting back in won’t be so easy for Jackie especially given that Alex is focused on training for a risky rodeo event while getting some new attention.

Netflix has released the full trailer for Season 2 of My Life With the Walter Boys, which arrives on the streamer August 28.

Right off the bat, Ellie O’Brien’s Grace asks Nikki Rodriguez’s Jackie Howard what it’s like being back in Silver Falls after she abruptly left to return to New York at the end of Season 1.

“Are you still with Alex? Because everybody’s talking about it,” Grace tells Jackie, who responds with, “It’s complicated.”

Grace then reminds viewers that Jackie and Cole kissed last season.

Exclusive: Chad Rook has joined Netflix’s My Life with the Walter Boys as a recurring guest star for Season 3, Deadline has learned.

The actor will appear in at least four episodes of the third season, which begins filming in Calgary soon, Deadline understands. Details about his character are not yet available. Netflix declined to comment.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, Clown in a Cornfield director Eli Craig addressed the possibility of making a sequel film. The 2025 horror film is based on the 2020 novel by Adam Cesare. The plot focuses on a young woman named Quinn who moves into a small town with her father, only to discover that it is being haunted by a terrifying clown.

The film version of Clown in a Cornfield featured a leading cast including Katie Douglas, Aaron Abrams, Carson MacCormac, Vincent Muller, Will Sasso, and Kevin Durand. It was released in May of this year and made $10.7 million on an estimated $1 million budget.

In an interview with ScreenRant at Sdcc, Craig speaks about whether he would adapt more of Cesare's novels. In response to a potential Clown in a Cornfield sequel, the director said, "let Shudder make the decision." That said, he seemed confident that the sequels could have strong content.

Per Bloody Disgusting, fans of director Eli Craig's feature film adaptation of author Adam Cesare's 2020 novel Clown in a Cornfield will finally get to bring Frendo's reign of terror home with them to enjoy over and over again. Clown in a Cornfield will be available in SteelBook 4k Ultra-High Definition, Blu-ray, and DVD formats beginning September 16 courtesy of Rlje Films. The 4K Ultra-High Definition edition of the film will come with a set of Clown in a Cornfield magnets that attack to the SteelBook hardcover case. Each version of the film will also include exclusive audio commentary from Craig, Cesare, and stars Katie Douglas and Carson MacCormac.

Clown in a Cornfield was directed by Craig, best known for the hit 2010 horror comedy Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, from a screenplay co-written with Carter Blanchard.

Clown in a Cornfield will be released on SteelBook 4K Uhd, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 16 via Rlje Films. The 4K edition comes with a set of magnets that stick to the SteelBook.

The slasher film earned IFC its biggest opening weekend ever with a $3.6 million gross in May before hitting VOD in June. It will stream on Shudder beginning August 8.

Netflix’s My Life with the Walter Boys series creator, showrunner, and executive producer Melanie Halsall describes season two of the coming-of-age series as bigger and better than the first. “We’ve got massive set pieces in each episode, and the stories are more intricate. We found our feet with our characters, [and] the actors really understand their characters now,” offered Halsall in an interview with Tudum. “When I was coming back, I was excited to start shooting again because I knew we had great stories to tell.”

A creepy clown stalking a sleepy little town has turned into a big box office win. Clown in a Cornfield, the latest horror flick to hit the big screen, slashed its way to a record-breaking debut, pulling in $3.6 million at the North American box office (as per Box Office Mojo) over its first weekend. That’s now the highest opening ever for IFC (film distribution company), nudging aside last year’s surprise hit Late Night with the Devil, which had earned $2.8 million in its opening run.

Big Returns On A Tiny Budget

The film’s shoestring budget, which is less than $1 million, makes the box office haul even more impressive. Early signs point to it going even further, especially considering Late Night with the Devil ended up raking in $10 million. It seems momentum is definitely on Clown in a Cornfield’s side.

After its world premiere at SXSW, the film drew a lot of praise with its early reviews.

Cornfields are a horror film classic, and for good reason. Having personally grown up where cornfields stretched farther than my headlights could reach, I know how quickly these fields of plenty can transform into a disorienting maze. Whether it’s the leaves whispering in the wind, the claustrophobia of narrow paths flanked by towering stalks that trap heat and smother sound, or the way shifting shadows mess with the mind, cornfields have a way of tapping into the most primal of fears.

For filmmakers, cornfields offer perfect cover for unseen terrors, their dense foliage masking movements and muffling cries for help. As unlucky protagonists push through the stalks, every rasp becomes an ominous warning, every breath a race against the unseen. And if rural terror gets your blood pumping, then you’re in luck because the new film Clown in a Cornfield is barreling down the dirt road and into theaters this Friday.

Review: Clown in a Cornfield is based on a well-received series of young adult novels by Adam Cesare. Having not read any of the books, I went into this adaptation relatively fresh, not knowing exactly what to expect. My interest was mainly piqued thanks to the fact that it’s directed by Tucker & Dale vs Evil’s Eli Craig, having been a big fan of that horror comedy gem.
