The Sidemen’s YouTube Reality Series Switches To Netflix
Image
Netflix has taken on the second season of The Sidemen’s YouTube reality series.

The streamer has greenlit a second season of the Big Brother-esque Inside, which will air early next year. The first season aired on YouTube, with the first ep having amassed 14 million views via the Sidemen YouTube channel, which has 21.8 million subscribers while the group have nearly 150 million subs between them. Netflix taking on the second season marks a rare occurrence of a YouTube-originated show moving to a streamer.

In collaboration with Netflix and The Sidemen, UK studio Cowshed Collective will produce the seven-part show that features prolific influencers locked inside a house, where they compete in a series of challenges for a prize worth up to £1m ($1.26M).

The Sidemen told the BBC they have “hit the limit” of what they can achieve on YouTube. “Netflix is the gold standard and part of us working...

Image
Fans might not know to look on YouTube for some great series. For almost two decades, YouTube has been a place where creativity and entertainment from the ground level can flourish into iconic staples of pop culture. Creators like Mr. Beast, Pewdiepie and Dude Perfect, to name a small few, have flourished on the platform and become household names. As it's so accessible, anyone can find anything that piques their interest. And some creators are so efficient and intricate with their creative process, that their videos feel of similar quality to movies and television. And while YouTube videos are a completely different medium with different standards, some YouTubers are able to exceed those expectations and create something that feels like a genuine television show.

Popular gaming personality and all-around YouTube sweetheart Markiplier is producing and directing a feature film called Iron Lung. Similarly, hes joined alongside YouTube movie reviewer and appreciator Chris Stuckmann,...

Image
Soccer Aid for Unicef 2024, broadcast live from Stamford Bridge, London, last week has raised £15 million, for Unicef’s vital work helping give children around the world happy, healthy, and play-filled childhoods.

Thanks to the generous UK public, Unicef UK supporters, ITV1, Itvx and Stv viewers, this year’s amount sees the current total, raised since 2006 – when Unicef UK Ambassador Robbie Williams founded the concept – hit a record fundraising milestone of over £106 million for children worldwide. This year, with thanks to the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, every donation made up to £4 million was doubled.

The hotly anticipated match took place at the sold-out Stamford Bridge stadium in London – returning for the third time in Soccer Aid for Unicef history and welcoming back over 40,000 fans. The match ended 6-3 to England, with the Three Lions taking the win for the first time in six years. World XI keep the overall...

The latest Sidemen soccer match raised over £1 million for charity and drew 2.6 million concurrent viewers
Image
On September 24, about 27,000 fans filed into The Valley, but they weren’t there to watch the soccer stadium’s usual occupants, Charlton Athletic F.C. Instead, the match of the day pitted the Sidemen against a group of “YouTube All-Stars.” After 90 thrilling minutes, the U.K.-based supergroup defeated its all-YouTube counterparts and raised more than £1 million (~1.08 million) for charity.

All seven regular members of the Sidemen played in the match. Ksi, Miniminter, Zerkaa, Tbjzl, Behzinga, Vikkstar123, and Wroetoshaw were joined by friends like MrBeast and LazarBeam, who filled out their 11-person squad. On the other end of the pitch, prominent creators like Noah Beck, AnEsonGib, and iShowSpeed looked to buck the trend that had defined previous Sidemen charity matches. The last time the septet held an event like this, it beat its All-Star opposition by six goals.

This latest tilt ended up with a much closer scoreline. The Sidemen...
