Tharun Moorthy is currently riding high on the massive success of Thudarum. Few anticipated the film would achieve such a level of acclaim. Unlike many other Mohanlal films, it lacked a strong pre-release promotional campaign. Its release was reportedly delayed until January due to challenges in finalizing an Ott partnership. Even the makers, to some extent, had modest expectations for its theatrical performance.

But the film proved everyone wrong and turned out to be a major box office success. As reported, it became the third-highest-grossing film in Mollywood, earning a worldwide total of ₹237.76 crore. Naturally, all eyes are now on Tharun Moorthy’s next move as a director, with fans eagerly awaiting updates on his upcoming projects.

Rumors are swirling about a collaboration between Tharun Moorthy and Tamil actor Karthi.

Levan Akin’s Crossing and Frida Kempff’s The Swedish Torpedo headed the winners at Sweden’s Guldbagge national film awards, presented in Stockholm on Monday, January 13.

Crossing won the best film award, presented to producer Mathilde Dedye – the second time Akin and Dedye have taken the top Guldbagge award, after And Then We Danced in 2020.

Akin received the best director prize, with the film also winning best cinematography for Lisabi Fridell, and best sound design for Anne Gry Friis Kristensen and Sigrid Dpa Jensen.

Festival hits Anora, Emilia Perez and Maria, a new Stockholm Series strand for TV works, and a theme of ‘Men in Crisis’ are among the highlights of this year’s Stockholm International Film Festival (November 6-17), the programme of which has been announced today (October 9).

The international feature competition includes Alonso Ruizpalacios’ Berlin title La Cocina; RaMell Ross’ Telluride premiere Nickel Boys; and Gustav Moller’s Denmark-Sweden-France co-production Sons. It has an even split of 10 titles directed by women, and 10 by men.
